Taco Bell Time !

When I was on sea duty in the Navy, we were gone for 6 months. There were stories about wives (aka "West Pac widows") who were less than 6 months pregnant when the sailor returned.
Wow, my cruises were a few days shy of 8 months each, not counting the seemingly endless workups beforehand...

My longest assignments were seldom more than 60 days. Most were 2-4 weeks. But there were a lot of them. Often back to back.

After a particularly long trip: "Hey babe, I'm home! Where did all the furniture go?"

Wife #2. Not even a roll of toilet paper left. Good thing I learned how to handle that while in North Africa. :)

West Pac was scheduled for 6 months. It went longer, but I don't recall by how much. I do know that we were in the Persian Gulf for 118 days straight without touching land or seeing a female!

That said... in 1990, out of the entire year, we were in port only a total of 90 days. So, most of the time, we were "haze gray and underway!"
