Video Climate change is a money-grabbing hoax, and the Deputy Sec of Energy proves it.

I do believe that we should focus our research and put money into clean energy. Nuclear. Solar and wind isnt going to cut it. It's a good thing that we have a workable plan to stop burning fossil fuels. It does pollute the Earth - both water and air. It's not just about CO2. The byproducts are toxic as Hell. Gasses, chemicals and solid waste from burning anything on the scale we do is not trivial.

The billion dollar question with nukes is what to do with the spent fuel and reactors and equipment that reach end of their useful life.

Adding: In most climates, a typical residence can generate all the power it needs with solar panels. Large cities and industry need more than this technology can deliver.
Nuclear is BY FAR the best option. I agree.

Unfortunately, much like ignorance of Science in general, nuclear power is illogically maligned and carries a stigma.

. I knew a guy that was working on the technology to separate the hydrogen molecule from water for internal combustion engines, but it looks like Nissan beat him to it.
Back to the laws of Physics.... the (enormous) energy required to split water into hydrogen and oxygen.... and similarly the energy required to convert methane to hydrogen (steam methane reformation) exceeds the energy produced by burning hydrogen. In other words... it's a net negative.

I wonder what would happen if our enemies nuked our nuclear plants? 🤔 I believe an EMP would be more effective... (and cheaper)
Like a direct hit? It would turn everything into dust that becomes radioactive fallout. No big deal. Just wait 50,000 years and everything will return to normal.

And EMP would render the electrical controls for the plant useless and they may not be able to do a proper shutdown. The circulating water pumps would stop running. Thus, a meltdown that destroys the reactor and containment, releasing radiation into the air, soil and groundwater. You could bulldoze it and build homes and condos there after 30,000 years.

:)

If they nuked our power plants, I don't think the folks in the area are going to care about not having power or any other effects of the destroyed plant... because.... they will be dead.

Loss of sea ice was said to be a direct result of Global Warming.
Wonder what Al Gore will say now... 🤔

Meanwhile the Thwaites Glacier, which is the size of Florida, is still melting from the bottom up.

That's a foot and a half of water worldwide. Fully melted.

The good news is... if it continues nobody will really have to worry too much for another hundred years. Personally, I don't care what happens after I'm dead. But my beloved cares.... ❤️❤️❤️❤️

A foot and a half of water:

The red is under water at high tide. The light greenish colors basically become wetlands. Salt marsh. Ducks will love it.

Will it happen? It's happened before. What makes the ice melt? Too much CO2 from humans? A natural cycle? Don't care. What's really fucking stupid is people that say it can't happen. It's happened many times in the past million years. There are entire cities underneath the world's oceans. Port Royal Jamaica, Thonis-Heracleion, Yonaguni-Jima, Dwaraka, Quiandao, Part of Alexandria. A few others. All destroyed by natural causes. Climate, seismic activity. Shit happens.

The Canary Islands are on a fault line and if that were to shear badly, the tidal wave that created could be massive and flood half the US coastline.

Climate change is a racket for sure. Politicians and businesses use it as a way to get rich. But change deniers are just plain stupid. The climate never stops changing. It's just a slow process. The coast of North America and everywhere else will be under water sooner or later. And after that there will be another ice age. And glaciers. Because that's how it works.

Imagine how astonished the people of Pompeii were then they all died. They built a city next to a volcano. Kind of like building a city on a beach. A few generations... maybe a hundred generations get to enjoy it. Then gradually, it becomes unlivable and as the process occurs there are morons who will insist it's not happening. That's how nature gets rid of dumb people. They drown or get buried in ash.

Aha! But none of them were anthropogenic. It's literally impossible, given the laws of Physics.

Does it matter? It catastrophic events happen. Because of the laws of physics.

I think it comes down to being in the wrong place at the wrong time. As it is said... failing to read the tea leaves. Or ignore the obvious. If the Earth is in a warming cycle, which it appears to be, your risk is greater if you live on a coastline, which in most parts of the US is only a foot or two above sea level. Some a little higher, some lower.

Those alive and living on those coasts today really have very little to worry about. 30-50-100 years from now... maybe not if the warming trend continues. That's not bullshit. It's reality. The exception to the short term safety of coastal populations might be that there's evidence to suggest higher water temperatures leads to more furious storms. Hurricanes. They draw their energy from warm water. That's also not up for debate. It's physics.

That said... a massive volcanic eruption in the South Pacific in the late 1800s put so much ash and sulphur dioxide into the atmosphere it changed the global weather for five years. Temperatures were recorded as much as 30 degrees F below normal. Crop failures due to colder than normal temperatures created a sustained food crisis in Europe. Point being ... warming can quickly reverse. High temperatures can influence tectonic activity, which in turn may cause volcanoes to erupt.

Again... there is never a time when nothing is happening. Deniers are just as dumb as Al Gore.

Does all the CO2 modern society pumps into the atmosphere matter? I don't think anyone really knows for sure. A volcano can spew more CO2 in a week than humans have released by burning since fire was discovered. Volcanoes have been around a lot longer than humans.

I confess that I am fascinated by the dumbness of people who insist nothing is happening. There is never a time when nothing is happening. Temperatures are increasing. It really doesn't matter why because there is no remedy. Mankind cannot stop using fossil fuels. There is no replacement for it. Not just for fuel. Plastics, chemicals, lubricants. And it's not certain this is what's causing temperature rise.

In the end... you might be fucked. Or not. Like I said... it's about being in the wrong place at the wrong time. Play it safe and encourage your grandkids to move to higher ground. :)

YES! It matters, because the fallacy (of anthropogenic climate change) is the basis for the taxes and other onerous and repressive regulations and laws.
If the cause is natural and coastal cities and communities are threatened, where does the money come from to try and protect those assets? Flood control is expensive. Should Americans just say fuck it and let Miami, Charleston , Manhattan, Boston, Savannah, a hundred others go?

I also don't agree with mandates for EVs and having been in the power business know that solar and wind is not capable of producing the needs of industry. That's not the point. This is undeniable: 1. Earth warming; 2. Ice melting; 3. Coastal cities and towns are fucked. if this trend continues, and it appears that it will, what do we do? Nothing? That's the dumbest possible answer. Whatever the solution might be, it costs money.

The fact that an American living in Iowa doesn't give a fuck about Americans in Miami or Savannah, or citizens of a small town like New Bern, North Carolina is not a patriot. They are an asshole.

I wonder about the Law of Gravity regarding places like Miami. Millions of tons of concrete "weighing" down the bedrock (sandstone). Yeah, blahblahblah, build on a solid foundation. But they have been having a problem with water coming up through the storm drains during certain conditions.

At over 100' in elevation where I'm at, I think we'll survive the catastrophic canary coastal contusion... :)

Parts of Florida are sinking. Mostly because they are consuming groundwater faster than it can be replenished. Aquifers collapsing. Nothing to do with sea level. But still a problem.

As they say in Jamaica .. May you enjoy island life, mon. :)

What does that have to do with the fallacious anthropogenic "climate change??" Red Herring.

What does that have to do with increasing taxes and regulations on the basis of the fallacy?

What climate change taxes and regulations are you referring to

I already said nobody is certain if human activity (burning oil or whatever) matters enough to change weather patterns or temperatures.

Scientists .... the consensus is that it does matter but some disagree. I also mentioned one volcano can send more CO2 into the atmosphere than the entire history of humans and discovery of fire. Then there's forest fires and frozen methane undersea and in the arctic that when thawed can influence temperatures - and thus change the weather.

It is colossally stupid to think that burning billions of gallons of petroleum or massive amount coal has no effect at all. Come on. There is nothing that humans do that has no effect at all. It's ridiculous to believe otherwise. Is it causing climate change? Nobody knows for sure. One thing is certain. It has some effect. It can't not have an effect. Because of physics.

If you understand the magnitude of energy involved in the Earth's climate.... and also understand the 1st Law of Thermodynamics.... Yeah... quite literally impossible for anthropogenic climate change.

Consider the energy of just one hurricane is equivalent to 10,000+ nuclear bombs PER DAY.

But yeah.... driving EVs vs ICE cars is going to save us all! LOL! Of course, the EV fans don't account for the burning of so-called "fossil fuels" producing the vast majority of the electricity to charge their batteries.

And seriously.... You're not aware of the regulations and taxes being exacted worldwide in the name of "climate change???" REALLY?

Speaking of human influence the planet. I read an article the other day that some agri-business is seeking approval for human waste (shit) to be used for fertilizing food crops. A stinky slurry of sewage sprayed on your lettuce or watermelons.

Within this brown drek are residual chemicals that exit the bladders and buttholes of 300+ million people taking prescription drugs, including hormones from birth control pills. Sewage treatment plants have no means of removing these chemicals from wastewater.

There's a floating mass of plastic in the Pacific Ocean the size of Indiana. Micro plastics are turning up in the bloodstream of animals and humans. Not to mention fish and other marine life are dieing from ingesting plastic. When the oceans are dead, so are we.

Einstein said that if the bees all die, we are done for in 2-3 years. Guess what's happening right now.

So... the effect of humans on the environment is a bunch of made up nonsense? Right.
