A lot of actual things in science and technology started out as science fiction.

Scientists and even Elon have raised concerns about making sure AI stays contained. But I have every confidence that just like with Covid, it will either intentionally or unintentionally "get out" and cause problems. I do not have that warm fuzzy that it will only take the form of "Rosie" on The Jetsons.
There has already been a case where AI replicated itself to another server when it discovered the scientists running its program were going to pull the plug.
Tin foil hat peeps will point and say, "Sky Net". Whether or not self-preservation is indicative of self-awareness if debatable, but the speed that AI things are advancing at is becoming scary.

Whether Elon's Optimus or Boston Dynamics Atlas robots evolve into the statue in Revelation is something that I'm hoping I won't be around to witness. 🙄

I didn't say it was "science fiction." I stated a current fact. "AI" is programmed by humans.

Agreed. "Current" being the operative word.

My point being is that saying AI is just a computer program and will never morph into something sinister or become weaponized is like being at Kittyhawk in 1903 and telling Wilbur and Orville that they have a neat toy, but it will never go beyond being an amusing ride for folks at county fairs.

Ah, but what I said is lost on MOST people. Most people TODAY do not understand that so-called "AI" is NOT new and is nothing more than a program / algorithm WRITTEN BY HUMANS. Sure... it's far more advanced than my days programming computers in "BASIC." And some of it is pretty amazing. But it's not actually "AI."

In 1978, (in 9th grade) my buddy and I programmed a computer to play an unbeatable game of tic-tac-toe. Shazam! "AI"!!!

Even the term, "AI" is not new. We were using it in the 1970s. But it has had a resurgence in terms of marketing.

Pigs might fly in the future, too. But they don't now. So, talking about "flying pigs" is CURRENTLY stupid.

I guess Terminator left a lasting impression on me. It took me a while to get over Jaws, didn’t like going swimming in a large body of water for a while. Now, The Exorcist is a story for another time.
 
IMO today's "AI" is just a really good data crawler with an ability to analyze that data with never before seen speed. I am not convinced there is any actual 'thought' rather than just a collection of already existing learned ideas that AI is analyzing and either presenting that analysis or presenting conclusion it also data crawled based on what it sees as the highest volume of conclusion for a specific idea or problem.


As for DNA based vaccines or dna based cures to diseases, that is not a new idea. I have a friend that is a Dr, we went to high school together back in the 80's, when he was in medical school he was talking about it, and it wasn't new then.

mRNA "vaccines" aren't "new" either. But it's got BIG problems. It's not whether they're new. It's whether they're SAFE and EFFECTIVE. They're neither.
