"At least once every human being should have to run for his life, to teach him that milk does not come from the supermarket, that safety does not come from the policeman, and that news is not something that happens to other people."

Robert Heinlein

Jordan Peterson (again) - Don't compare yourself to others. Compare yourself to yourself, instead.

Personally, I think social media, especially Facebook, has exacerbated this potential issue with people. It would seem everyone out there is living "larger" than you. So, it's very easy to beat yourself up over your "lack of success." "Why am I not living like them?"

I have learned that a LOT of people are not nearly as well off as they'd have everyone believe. A LOT of them are living in the proverbial financial AND emotional "house of cards." They SEEM to have the world by the tail. But in reality, they're constantly on the edge of disaster and often eventually fall off that edge.

In other words... Don't envy others, no matter how good it seems they have it. Just continue to focus and work on yourself. Day to day.

All I ever needed to know I learned in kindergarten- Fulghum

A man with outward courage dares to die; a man with inner courage dares to live- Lao Tzu

This 1 cost me a acquaintance and him a blackeye. Talking politics I think I said something like- wheres your voters regerstration card?? Then SHUT THE FUCK UP.
To make democracy work, we must be a nation of participants, not simply observers. One who does not vote has no right to complain.- Lous Lamour

Lamours life impressed me, far more then Hemingway. Hemingway seemed to gifted a good bit of success. Just luck maybe??
Lamour was more a mans man and did many things to success in my opinion. I believe Ive read everything he wrote & was pulished. Including the uncompleted works after his death published by his daughter.
Lamour, Robert Heinlein, Fulghum, Twain Im almost certain Ive read everything they had published amoung others. 2 tv shows a week growing up and no cable or AC till after I officially bought my own home.

Probably not the place for this post, I just really enjoy what reading BOOKS MADE FROM FALLEN TREES does to your mind. Nothing else smells right or produces the same level of thought that a pause to contemplate the words written in your hand does.

"Don't count the money until it is in your hand."
"If it ain't broke, don't go fixin' it."
"If it can't be fixed, I don't want to work on it."
"If it has tits or wheels, it will give you problems."
