Video Evel Knievel: Life instructions from the 1970’s

Yup... We would lay out kids side to side to determine distance and mark with chalk--we were serious about this! ;) There were usually volunteers that would lay out after the ramp but never enough to go the full distance. I think my best was 8 kids (3 live laying there after the ramp) but I broke my rear axle on touchdown, lost control and landed on the rest of the bikes conveniently parked just past the landing area. I got some cuts and scrapes but nothing serious...

Had this and some other ones as a kid. Broke just about every part imaginable on my bike jumping various ramps and such. I think the tallest ramp we made was 5 1/2 feet tall. Helmets, ha! What were those? I don’t know if bike helmets even existed. When I got into motorcycles I knew never to get a dirt bike, because I knew the stupid shit I would try would probably kill me.

I did it. I jumped everything. I got hurt, many times. I would do it again in a heartbeat. I loved watching EK he was “it”.
