Yep. Rarely hear about "center of pelvic mass" in SD courses. But it's an excellent target and way to stop a threat.

I shot in the pelvic area can physically disable, as in make impossible to stand, an attacker. Lots of big arteries and veins passing through there. Good chance of bleeding out. So, not able to stand and rapid bleed out. Not as good as a head shot but if it's all you got, go for it.

I was taught that at in a class this one time at band camp.
