That's cool! For a while we were watching the Discovery Channel show, "Gold Rush."

That "Diamond" looks to be in rough shape! :LOL:
 
We are on a much lower level of production employing a whole different operation than anything seen on TV. In the desert mountains of AZ in no man’s land. No water, dry washing like the Auzzies down under.

This is a pano photo of out gold claim. 100ac we are camping and digging at the arrow. This is also our bug out area. Survival supplies: birds, fox, big cats (making a return), big horn sheep, coyote, snake, lizard, cactus, fish, ducks & water (30 min ride over mts or 40 min hike as the bird flys.)

I detest snakes. Both the good and the bad ones. In the end, they almost all den together in the same dens. I kill any and every snake I find and I have lived with enough rattlers to probably give each and every one of you in this forum a couple of snakes apiece. Literally. We're talking snakes as fat as your ankle . I lived on property where you could hear 10-20 snakes rattling away in the adjacent grass as you drove up to the front gate at night for most months out of the year. I have opened doors to be greeted with a coiled up rattler outside the door enough times that you think about them each and every time you open your doors. I always slept with my room door closed and a solid object blocking the bottom crack of the door. This was just in case one of the critters made it into the house. And yes, I killed a couple of snakes in the house. Fortunately not rattlers. As, I said, they all den together.

They stink and absolutely suck and they're everywhere if your property has a bad infestation like mine did. Once that Rubicon is crossed, you cannot get rid of them and your only option is to live with them. Needless to say, I left that property after 3 years and I'm probably still alive today because I did.

I also have almost stepped on a couple while in Tucson,,, when in Albuquerque I had scorpions in my back bedroom and would see the occasional tarantula outside or a roadrunner. I like you was more mindful of the rattlesnakes than the other critters around. Instead of big cats roaming Albuquerque, we had the occasional bear come down form the mountains looking for food.. lol
 
Ive never hada issue with eastern diamondbacks. They normally try to stay out of your way. Now timber rattlers, they are as curious as a cat.
 
Reminds me of parts of North Africa. A seemingly endless desert. Very inhospitable. Not to mention the Jihadis and bandits.

Do you usually find enough gold to cover your costs? It's incredible how much soil you have to sift thru to find it! How do you do that with no water?

I read someplace there are meteors floating around in space that have more gold in them than all the gold that has ever been dug up on Earth. I'm betting Musk is the one who will figure out how to mine it.
