This occurs to me as a colossally BAD idea. What could possibly go wrong by not only convening 800 of the TOP military BRASS (basically ALL the Flag officers) in ONE place.... AND announcing it to the world, including the exact location?!?? What the actual fuck?!??

I think the picture of a bunch of Military leaders sitting at desks talking to a computer would be counter to that objective.

I stand by my position that ANNOUNCING that ALL the top military brass will be in THIS place at THIS time is stupidity beyond my imagination.

It's logistically STUPID. It's tactically STUPID. Even if done in "secret," it's STUPID. But to ANNOUNCE it, including TIME AND PLACE? Holy fucking balls!

I like Hegseth, but I'd slap him "upside da head" for this idea.

Just like going back to Department of War, this is really about the message to the world.

I'm being completely serious. If an enemy has the WILL to do it.... they can overcome almost any defense or hardening. And that WILL can be emboldened and stimulated by the knowledge of not just the announced fact that ALL the top brass will be there... but the exact time and place.

The stupidity of this is glaringly obvious even to a person like me whose knowledge of military tactics is admittedly amateur and rudimentary. I know this: You don't TELL the fucking enemy where you are and what you're doing. "Hey Mr. Enemy! Pay attention! We're going to convene ALL of our top military officers at this location at this time. But beware... our gate guards are super-serious about who they let in!"

Holy shit... I know I cannot be the only one alarmed by this.

I'm pretty sure that Quantico has a little more security than some bored PFC waving people through the gate, but I can see your point.

It'd be kind of like gathering the Country's top leadership and politicians, along with the 9 Supreme Court Justices, the JCOS, hundreds of the most wealthy and influential people in the country and thousands of ordinary citizens from across the country. Then do this every 4 years, while putting the time and place on the public calendar forever.

What enemy do you think could plan and pulling off a successful attack on a group of military leaders on a base inside the Continental US, with only a couple weeks notice?
Maybe Russia, China or France is ready to touch off WWIII, by launching a few ICBMs our way. That's the only credible threat I see. Even then, a missile launch would be detected in plenty of time to evacuate.

I won't discount some looney tunes showing up at the gate with a firearm and doing some damage before being put down by an HRT sniper or Marine guard, but causing actual damage to Military leadership is not going to happen.

I've already articulated my concerns. It's about centralizing our ENTIRE and extended top military leadership into what amounts to "fish in a barrel." It's also about OPSEC... and in this case an utter lack of OPSEC. Announcing the time, place, and who will be there PUBLICLY is truly... INSANE.

My son is about to deploy in a few days (he just left us today to go back to base). He can't even tell us where he is going (exactly). He can't tell us what he'll be doing. He can't tell us how long he'll be there. And he's just an E-4! The one thing he has repeated to me is, "This is an opportunity to make a big difference... a big impact... in the world." Hmmmm.... From what I've been able to surmise, I know the country (but not the exact location in that country), and I know the environment he'll be in is hostile / not friendly.

But where will ALL of our Generals and Admirals be on a certain date, time, and place?!?? No problem... we'll announce that to the WORLD so ALL our enemies will know!

Actually it's not ALL the Military brass.
It's all Generals and Admirals in Command positions and a top NCO adviser.
Deputy Commanders, Staff officers, and several others in the chain of command will still be left tending the flock.
I've never been a General in command of anything, but I know that they have contingencies for most every situation you can think of.
When a General learns of something that needs to be dealt with, he usually looks at a Deputy or Staff officer and asks, "what are our protocols for this. The Deputy then asks a clerk or more than likely an NCO who thrn tells a clerk to pull that particular file.
So if the General in command has been blown up in Quantico, that's just one less layer of bullshit to go through.
