Keep in mind that social media algorithms are designed to push each of us further into a bubble where our pre existing beliefs are affirmed and contradicting ones are excluded. Try doing searches within the app for stories that you have not seen there to try to force the algorithm to show you different points of view. The whole point of the algorithm is to isolate us and make us hate people with differing views. The fact that you have not seen this story proves that the algorithm isolating you rather than informing you.

Secondly, there is a TON of stuff from the side I would consider the "opposition" on my social media feeds. FUCKING TONS of it. Why? Because I read that, too.

I don't "hate" anyone. But I can certainly oppose the views, policies, and actions of other people. Ilhan Omar's positions are the polar opposite of my own. I would rightly consider her an enemy of the USA. She is opposed to the Constitution. 'Nuff said. It's NOT, as you have submitted, because I'm "influenced by the algorithm."

Maybe my algorithm is limited to more important stories.

I haven't seen anything anywhere about this "syringe incident." I still have no idea what supposedly happened, because nobody has posted a link. But it hasn't even shown up on Google News.

They do this based on what you looked at in the past and what they think you would like more of. If you see more of what you liked in the past, you will stick around longer and look at more ads.

As an experiment, use a VPN that lets you log in from a different location, also switch to Incognito or private mode. Don't log into any of your social media, google accounts, apple accounts etc. Do a google search for something and see if the results are different than what you get back when you search normally all logged in and browser history steering searches. While incognito, keep searching for left wing loony stuff and see if the trajectory goes in a different direction.

It's not you, it's the way things are. I grab my kid's phone, snooping, which my right and duty as a parent, and do a you-tube search. I'm not interested in what I searched for, I'm looking at the suggested video that pop up. It's a strong clue for what they have been searching or watching.

Puhleeze... I'm quite aware of how that works. And BECAUSE of what I search, browse, and read, I get a MIX of stories... not just one-sided. I like to know what the other side is thinking / doing. So, I get both conservative and liberal stories and sources in my feed. Hell... I've been criticized here for posting stories from liberal sources. LOL!

Again... I'm VERY aware of how the interwebz works. I've been at this online stuff since LONG before Algore "invented the internet." I'll just say I've been DEEP in this stuff for a very long time.

I think your assumptions that I'm ignorant on this subject are quite hilarious.

I'll just say this... I've built several websites starting in 1999. I was an "early adopter" of website marketing. I wrote a book on the subject that sold quite well (with specific application to my profession). I've been playing with computers going back to 1978 (learned to program them back then, because there was no store-bought software).

I have multiple YouTube and Reddit accounts for this very reason (algorithms)... I like having interest-specific accounts so I get a consistent feed that will be useful to me for each specific interest. One for gun stuff. One for drums / music. One work-related. And so on.

I watched the video. I agree with Bongo that it looks a bit contrived. What was curious was that she charged the attacker rather than turn away from him. This is counterintuitive.

If a stranger / attacker is spraying an unknown substance on me, my first reaction would be to turn away and create distance to avoid additional exposure to whatever that substance might be. But she charged AT him. Amusing the thought that she was going to "so something."

And if I was going to orchestrate such an incident, naturally I would make it an harmless substance.

She's a piece of shit, in any case. Enemy of the Constitution.

I have a friend who is a former CIA analyst from back in the 80's. She speculates Omar is an operative. Omar is too polished and crafty in manipulating public opinion to have not been trained. An agent of some domestic or foreign agency. Potentially influenced and supported by Iran, Russia or China. Possibly even one of our European allies. Bottom line: Someone is pulling strings for her.

I've been to Somalia. It's mainly a shit hole full of violent miscreants, corrupt officials and uncivilized people who live like animals. Mogadishu and Hargesia are huge, lawless slums.

I believe Omar and this guy have each other on speed dial. He wets his beak on every US dollar flowing into Somalia.

If it's not an enemy or political adversary behind it, It's some entity in the US laundering money thru Somalia to fund some covert activity. Something like Iran Contra is possible. It's a colossal amount of money gone missing. A much bigger scam than a bunch of sand monkeys from Somalia could figure out.

Yes, stupid can be an explanation. Isolated in their media bubble can be another.

Tyranny is perpetrated by mass quantities of ordinary people who have been convinced that they are serving a righteous cause. Very few go all in to something they believe to be inherently evil.

An example is the Rona. You have relatives who are no longer part of your life because of their strident belief in the vaccine, masks, isolation and shutdowns, right? Did they believe those things were going to help or hurt the population? Why or why not? The evidence is clear that the vaccines rolled out under Operation Warp Speed were usless at stopping covid, as were masks and isolation which itself brought along many unexpected (?) consequences. One of those consequences is that now people in a different media bubble have come to believe ALL vaccines are bad. In 2026 measles is making a comeback in the USA (!!!).

America, when it falls, it will not be due to an armed invasion. It will be from inside the country, a civil war where multiple sides who believe they are righteous in their cause see the other side as an existential threat. Social media is the most likely source of this strife.

How much of your day is spent on TikTok? The app was developed by the CCP and blocked in their own country, because, reasons. Congress passed a law banning it. The president signed the law. SCOTUS upheld the constitutionality of the law. Yet it has not been enforced for over a year. This should alarm any constitutional absolutist! Yes, it was sold, finally. But the CCP still has the algorithm and a majority of ownership. The enemy is coming in through our phones and screens, sent by troll farms in Russia, China, N Korea, Iran. They are accounts that have hot babes or Chads or Greek statues as their avatars and we are more willing to believe what they tell us is important than what is important to our actual human neighbors.

The great beauty of our Constitution, the thing that wrote American Exceptionalism into existence, is the requirement for persuasion and compromise to get anything done. The media and news bubbles we are living in has made those two concepts seem weak and unpatriotic. Our Founders saw a small, slow and unresponsive government as a feature, not a bug.
