If I put together a 17 Long

Took a minute to find the song. Anyone know how to snip the last 17 seconds of this song and turn it into a ring tone?

I did not know there was such thing as Christian rap but this whole album is great for certain days. Lament is a normal and healthy part of communion with God. There are many songs of lament in the book of psalms, I think this artist captures that outpouring of pain.

I made an mp3 from my youtube video :)

I can try from that music video

The two guys that are primarily in charge of this match are friends of mine. I show up early and help them setup (I am grunt labor, I move steel, I paint, I don't want to think about stage design) I stay late to clean up

They also hate the people with clipboards checking to make sure you have met all the made up bullshit rules That is partly why they started this, and 100% why I help them.

Our only concerns about anything are
1. Is everyone being safe? (yes, everyone is safe at all times without crazy clipboard ROs yelling at everyone) and
2. are there enough targets? 3 stages got to be at least 25 per stage, 30 preferred.
3. Did everyone that came out to shoot have fun, if not why?? let us know and we make changes.
4. We buy a couple new targets every month to keep it interesting
+1

Steel, target, bullseye, clays, long distance, etc. It's sport. Sport for non-professionals is a pastime. It's supposed to be fun. Something you do in the company of others who share your interest.

I got tossed out of a match in western Maryland around 2002. The fat slob officiating was over-enthusiastcally micromanaging everyone. Acting like he was in charge of it all. He was literally red-assing everyone, asking if they made any modifications to their firearm, other stuff. As if everyone was trying to cheat. So when it was my turn and he started in, I said to him... "Hey Gunny, why don't you skip the donuts and take a fu__ing pill?" A couple of guys who I presume were Marines busted out laughing and that really pissed the guy off.

I was disqualified. He said I was insubordinate. Like I somehow reported to him. The officials had a confab and asked me to leave, fearing somebody might lose their temper. That actually made me laugh because I think they knew it would be him. I later learned this nimrod told everybody he was a retired cop but was in fact some average schlub who was not a cop but one of those ride-along unarmed auxiliary police, which was not uncommon in some municipalities and small towns in Maryland. My cop friends have told me they can't stand these pretenders but they sometimes have to work with them.

The moral of the story is these types are pervasive in match competitions. It's why I lost interest in formal competitions. And all of them were NRA fanatics with patches on their shirts, hats, etc. Like they were Eagle Scouts or something.

Those 'types' are part of the reason I don't shoot in most competitions. I also hate the million little rules that exclude most guns I own :D

I will never spend the time or money to be a top shooter, its a pastime or hobby to me that I am 'ok' at and realize what would need to happen for my skill level to grow and I am not putting in that much effort.

I like to shoot with other average Joes. Some days I shoot better than some of them, other days I don't :D
I am usually in the middle somewhere

I am also not buying a $6000+ dollar 2011 to compete with. I like my Glock clones and that is what I am shooting.

The core group I shoot with talks so much shit about shooting you would think we were all top shooters, but the shit talk is most of the fun, we are all about average with each other (as average Joes) and know one day one wins the other day another wins and it keeps going. If I have a bad day. I can expect the shit talk to go on for weeks about it :D

The "Action Pistol" at my club is an informal thing. We usually get around 15 who show up regularly and a few others will show every couple/few months. JJ tries to make it accessible to anyone, but safe. Ground shots and other infractions will get a warning, more than once the shooter is "done for the day". Last one we had an "older" gentleman in his 80s-90s? unstable with a cane, brought there and helped by his son, who did not shoot. But he wants to compete and it is wonderful how his son helps him by bringing him there. :) And he CAN shoot, consistently hitting targets like the rest of us! (y) I think he has a 1911 9mm with holster and mag pouches.

The "Action Steel" I go to in Orlando is a lot more structured with more stages and more shooters, usually around 60. Timers are used and scores are kept and post to Practiscore as soon as the match is over. There is a mix of pretty shirts who score very high (this is "practice" for them), normal folks like me ("normal"? :D ) and semi-noobs there to perfect skills. There is always someone there to help the noobs. :) Safety is the utmost and I've seen many DQ'ed for actions such as near ground shots, pointing the gun over the berm, dropping the gun, unsafe and over180 muzzle sweeps. I've been ending around the middle of the pack and am slowly creeping my way to higher scores. My goal (other than having fun and building skills) is to not end up at the bottom of the list! :) I've even scored the highest in my group (rimfire rifle) and highest in my category (rimfire pistol) once or twice.

@k3nny173 Sounds great. If I ever find myself in that nick of the woods I'd be delighted to join in. I worked a few projects in the Staunton area long ago. In my previous life. Chemical plants. More recently I hiked part of the Appalachian Trail in VA. Not too far from your range. Beautiful scenery around there.

I have some nice guns but it's more about the Indian than the arrow as they say. Most modern guns, regardless of price, are more accurate than the person shooting them. I've had a similar experience like you described while hog hunting. Bunch of regular guys of varied skills but all competent with a gun and above all, friendly. The gun talk is always interesting and the shit talk starts after the hunt when everybody is relaxing with their favorite beverage. Nobody gets offended. That's part of the experience. Men behaving like men, who don't take themselves too seriously or act like pussies who imagine themselves as Special Operators or Brigade Commanders.

The one thing I miss about having a job that at times was relatively dangerous is the gallows humor of the men and sometimes the women you serve with. The natural, offhand ease at which we joked about the possibility of getting killed. Or death in general. It probably seems twisted to miss something like that but the psychology of it is that it's a stress relief mechanism. It's also a bonding thing. That's not my life anymore but I remember the people and the time very fondly. I wouldn't trade it for anything.

Whats the difference in 17L and 34??
The 17L has a longer slide and barrel. Slightly less than an inch. Some matches dont allow the 17L but approve the 34. Thy are otherwise the same.

about a week before the bowling pin matches start, the shit talking starts in a group text :D :D

Our steel shoot is in Charlottesville VA at the Rivanna Rifle and Pistol Club, 2nd Saturday of the month (might take a break in Jan and Feb due to temps)

Bongo Lewi - hit me up if you want to come out and ring steel at a match or if you are in town not during a match we have a steel shooting area that is always open with a couple of plate racks a dueling tree and some hostage targets. I do not have a limit on guests, so I am happy to bring people in.

There are plenty of guys that shoot high end customized guns there, I think I am the only one that shoots P80's, definitely several Glock guys there, and CZs, Berettas, Sigs, etc (you can easily find the Rock island guys, they are clearing stove pipes all match long) ;)

The threaded barrels might throw this visual off a little, but below is (from left to right)
19, 17, 34, 17L

The 34 in this pic has a sliencerco threaded barrel that is 5.8" long, the non-threaded barrel in the 17L is 6.02 (would be 6.5" if I got a threaded one)

Thank you. I have been thinking the 34 was the longer 1.

Great movie. I've had two personal encounters with Clint Eastwood. I spoke to him briefly at the Monterrey Jazz Festival years ago and oddly ran into him in a gun shop in Georgia in 2017. I jokingly asked him if he remembered me. He politely said he didnt recall our meeting. Very affable guy considering his fame. He was shopping for props.

He shoots some of his films in Georgia. I didnt realize at the time how this is a growing trend. Way cheaper than CA. Another popular location for the movie biz is Vancouver, BC. You can't buy guns there!

I've heard thicker is better than longer. But maybe that was just flattery.

Giggity.

700+ pazoozas for the MOS G17L. Is the extra velocity achieved by an extra 3/4 inch worth it?

I've seen the G34 MOS for $500 NIB.
