The only sports event I watch every years (for most of my life). It's the largest attended single-day sporting event in the world. I've attended in person three times. It's an amazing experience. 350k++ in attendance.

Helio Castroneves is back... If he wins, he will be the first ever 5-time winner. AND he will be the oldest at age 50!

Newgarden is back, too. If he wins, he will be the first "three-peat" winner ever (he won the last two races).

Good race! I guess I was the only one here that watched it.

I was really hoping for Newgarden to take the win coming from the back row. He had a shot... and then fuel pressure issue took him out of the race.
 
So do tell, who won?

I have to be honest, I have watched so little TV lately that I didn't even know that the Indy 500 was being run today.

I pretty much quit watching motor sports after the Bubba Wallace garage door noose scandal but was already in serious decline when NASCAR banned the Confederate Battle flag. A bunch of white people afraid of being racist banning a flag that has absolutely nothing to do with racism.
 
Alex Palou, of Spain, won. First time win for him. First Spaniard to win.

NASCAR and IndyCar are two very different types of races and different organizations. I've never watched NASCAR on purpose. :-)

The Indy 500 is run every year on Memorial Day weekend.
