MACatto 2011 first shots and TX22 go BRRRRT! :D

Ran my first 150rds through the MACatto at the plinking range after Public Day. Gun shoots nice and was fairly accurate nailing cans and a lone pumpkin someone had left there. :) No malfies other than the last round case dropping into the port, stove-piping the slide. This happened once and early on in the session.

While I was there a number of Sunday regulars showed up to hang out and bullshit with each other for the most part. Looking to get the round count up so I can arrive at the 500mi break-in sooner, I let a few of them run a mag through the MAC. They were very impressed with it, BTW. :)

One of the guys offered me a go at his MAC M-11 9mm SMG and who could turn THAT down. :D The one mag went quickly of course. :( This GIF is of another shooter running it but my turn was similar only the cans and pumpkin were still up.

Then he offered me a turn with his Taurus TX-22. Everyone was really good at pulling the trigger on this one! :devilish: As I had donated 200+ rounds of Auto-Match that it preferred, we exercised this gun a lot... :D Again, another shooter at the helm in the gif.

Back to MY MAC, one of the guys had grey Apollo 11 2011 which has a 3D printed grip frame. The frame felt good and had decent texture but wasn't as finely finished as the MAC. The Cerekote was well, Cerekote. The gun really isn't that bad and had I handled one, I may have purchased it. It had been on sale for a brief period of time for around $665 at Battlehawk Armory but then went back up to $750ish after less than a week. (stock photo shown)

He also had a Springfield Prodigy 2011 4.25". Its grip frame looked nearly identical to the MAC as far as mounting and cut-outs and whatnot. I was able to get many good pics and comparisons between the MAC and Prodigy.

Although I didn't run any of them. ALL the mags he had fit the MAC. The Checkmate that came with the Apollo looked identical to the Tisas mags the MAC comes with. Just the logos were different. The Prodigy mags have a black finish on them and are apparently made by SA. They have a 20-rounder for reasonable ($45ish) and I was able to try his in the MAC and it wouldn't fit in the mag well. It looks like it would need to be relieved slighty in the front corners. It wouldn't insert enough to latch. The Prodigy does not come with a magwell.

Here is a video of the TX-22 firing fast...

PSA had the specimen in the video available yesterday in a 5-mag package (2-22s, 3-16s). I thought long and hard about it but apparently too long and not hard enough and when I went back they had sold out... :( I forgot to mention the guy with the TX at the range gave me some earrings for my girlfriend if my girlfriend happened to be a TX... :D

First 30 seconds and again at 8:45.

Thanks. But wow that's a disappointing video. The "brrrt" at 30 seconds is slow-mo with fucking music overlay. Worthless.

Then at 8:45, I got to watch multiple malfunctions.

Very very UNimpressed.

But wow that's a disappointing video.
I agree that the video and the presenter are somewhat "lame". ;) I went to his channel page and he had a number of gun "rap" songs and other stupid shit which I had zero interest in. There is probably a much younger crowd that enjoys such asinine gun videos. I posted so you'all could hear the "brrrt" which my silent gif did not portray. It is only a matter of time before gootoob takes down FRT videos and I wouldn't be surprised if his channel gets the ax while they're at it... :)

The TX-22 is definitely impressive with the FRT.
And it is just one pin (I think) to install because it backed out a little and the owner had to push it back in. It is just a little piece of metal no bigger than a dime and about as much to make. Pure gougy profit item!

Although the TX-22 is almost a "one trick pony", it is on "the list" and if PSA still had it in stock yesterday, I'd probably own one now. But I'm not sweating it and things happen or don't happen for a reason. :)

I’d like an FRT on a 22 just for the hell of it. But FL disapproves of my likes. My curiosity is piqued.

I'm not planning to get an FRT, especially with the Bump Stock fiasco which I realize has since been overturned, but if I did then doing so on a .22LR build would make the most financial sense. I can't imagine the cost of blasting full auto or simluated full suto with 9mm let alone .223 or 7.62. Two or three round bursts maybe, not full ....
