NGD: buckshot delivery service

On a 410 a pistol grip isnt bad. On a 20/12 gauge its a hate filled democrat.
Ive fired a course with 1100Rem Enrty and the pistol grip transferred ALOT of recoil into my hand/wrist. Hunting Ive tried couple pistol gripped 12gauges with same results.
I much prefer the straight stock.

Those solid copper sabots are Hate down range. Seen deer and hogs blasted out to 40yds??? Maybe more. It is a WTF moment. Not much use on anything smaller then moose, lol. Utterly destroyed the animals. Remove front shoulder of smallish doe.

The steel/tungsten shot wont compress through a choke like lead will.
Also it does have more bounce off trees etc. Pellets dont have the mass to penetrant hard objects and do not deform like lead to dissipate energy.
They do wear the barrel also. But you gotta shoot ALOT of steel to do that. ALOT.
I have 500rds +/- through a 870 barrel for duck hunting. Its GTG. Several chokes to find the 1 I liked. Regular ole Carlson works just fine- after a small fortune in Gucci garb.

In the home, lead shot for self defense? Sure, why not. It's not necessary to use steel. You probably aren't going to feed your intruder to wild birds, coyotes, etc.

What if you have a backhoe or are going to feed them to your hogs? :D

Chippers leave evidence as does the hog trough. Or hog scat. The DNA in bone fragments last a good long time.

Chum... way better. What doesn't get eaten by fish sinks to the bottom and the crabs enjoy the feast. :) It's a whole different world down there and nothing goes to waste. I set crab pots at my eastern NC property. They love chicken necks. I bet they would like burglar too.

Confucius say... He who rob Bongo's house helps make delicious crab cake.

Ya need alligators. They can digest concrete and I have never met anyone willing to retrieve a body if they are around.
Well 1- he made the news that day & we call him lefty now.

Now, Amos Moses was a Cajun
He lived by hisself in the swamp
He hunted alligator for living
He'd just knock them in the head with a stump

Loves me some Amos Moses!!

Jerry Reed was very talented. My folks had that album with the song AND the 8-track. Hehehe

Late 80's I worked on a month-long project in a pulp and paper mill near Bogalusa, LA. A lot of the trades were Cajun. Welders, riggers, pipe fitters, electricians, various technicians, etc. that went from project to project. Some of them brought RVs with them and lived on-site. It was kind of awkward getting to know them at first and in some cases understand what they were saying. After a while they invited me to hang out with them. Their culture was completely foreign to me. They did a most of their own cooking vs going out - and was it good. The project was a bitch but the people left me with some great memories. They had funny nicknames for each other and I always figured they had one for me. I never knew what it was.

Jeffrey Dahmer had is father over for dinner.
His father went to the ice box to get some cubes. In the ice cube tray are alternating cubes with testes in them. "Jeffrey, explain this!" "Well dad, sometimes you feel like a nut, sometimes you don't!" :D

Somewhat interested in a Chisel folder (they have it on offer with a locking folding knuckle now). I've access to a brand-new tote case that the 1301 w/Chisel folded would fit perfectly into in which the standard oem setup is just an inch or so too long... and the gun would be more suited for inside home protection adding the folding chisel stock. I like that flexibility. Hmmm. But alas the price of admission is steep..

Workmanship/quality of the Chisel is VG. I like the platform for the optic. I'm on the fence about what type of optic mount there. I have also had other competing priorities. My gut feeling right now is a Steiner MPS red dot.

Since the 1301 already has a mount, some comments are they wish it was an option they could omit (and save a few $$). Have you tried both mounts to see if you like the chisel mount better, or did you just go for the chisel mount option right away? Thanks, BL!

I went into it with the decision to get the Chisel for several reasons. The Chisel is very similar to my favorite third party A3 braces that I've put on some subguns. I like the offset design. And that it folds.

I bought the Chisel stock separately and installed it myself. I prefer the position for the optic on the Chisel vs. the pic rail on the gun. But I dont have any objections to using the pic rail for an optic. I'm sure it would be fine. If I wanted co-witness that's what I would do. IN that case I'd probably put a Trijicon RMR on it.

I have the Chisel set up for the shortest possible LOP. Using a defensive shotgun, I prefer keeping the gun high and tight.

The foregrip is a real cheese grater. I will likely replace it with something else. I'm also pondering what light to put on it.

The foregrip is indeed aggressive. I like it (svelte, handles well) but would probably hate it after shooting a boxful of shells or more unless I was wearing a glove. I'm about to find out....

The one and only thing that really bugs me... The plastic mag extension. Grr.... That's gotta go.

I will likely replace the foregrip with the Magpul Zhukov style along with the accompanying heat shield. Eventually. It's $250 bucks for the set.

Minor issues. The gun shoots like a dream.

"The one and only thing that really bugs me... The plastic mag extension. Grr.... That's gotta go."

-I'm thinking the exact same thing. Not only does the fact that it's plastic bug me too, but I hear the bracket constantly comes loose. Not anything some loctite blue wouldn't fix, but I want to upgrade both the plastic extension AND that bracket for bit more strength and durability. the trigger housing is another polymer part I'd wish were metal. Oh well.

I've read that the heat shield will work with the OEM Forend, but not perfectly; and have a sneaking suspicion I'll be replacing that as well- the heat shield is, IMO, for this type of shotgun, something I'd want down the road. Right now I just want to get some rounds through it, and a decent flashlight on it.

GG&G. They have all the parts for the mag extension and other things mentioned here.

That prism scope rattled loose again this weekend. It was on a Farrowtech mount that went in place of the gh0st ring sight, allowing me to get rid of the pic rail section. It was a great idea but it was held to the gun with the 2 tiny allen head grub screws. I should have weighed the scope when it was off, it weighs more than it looks like it should and is more than lactate blue could keep glued in place. 😁

Plan B is called up. I ditched the Farrowtech mount and put the scope on the previously removed pic rail. I wanted to relocate the pic rail to the spot for the gh○st ring but the screw spacing differed by a couple mm's, thanks Beretta! 🤬 I really wanted to keep a low profile on the top of the reciever above the loading port to shorten the trip from the shell card stuck to the left side of the gun to the port on the right side. I did 3 rounds of wobble trap using cards for ammo storage on the gun and it was really slick, a very short and smooth trip over the top. I was definitely the LARPiest looking shooter on the line but it is a very accepting bunch.

In other loose parts news, the heat shield over the barrel is getting a bit wobbly. I don't notice it shooting. The heat shield may be getting worn from using the remote light switch as a hand stop of sorts for my support hand and practicing a push/pull hold on the gun. All of that force is going into the heat shield that anchors the switch rather than the handguard. Briley and Midwest Industries make m-lok festooned handguards, the former incorporates a heat shield that might be more solid and has lots of places to bolt on a remote switch but I like the plastic forend that came on this gun and have already sunk 💰 into this thing.

I'm still working on ammo storage for my upcoming class. I tested out a wide molle belt/suspenders combo this weekend and was surprised how well it worked! It was in the 30s for action pistol on Sat and again for wobble trap on Sun. The apparatus rode really well on top of the 2 jackets I was wearing, a Milwaukee heated jacket and a shell over it to trap the heat against me. Added bonus, using the outhouse was completely without drama. Unhook the belt and the suspenders hold everything up although if I had dropped anything down the hatch the layer of ice may have saved it. 😊

I am new to molle attachment and put this fork-like thing onto my Safariland gun bucket holster and threaded it through the slots, it did not seem super secure but it did not move in usage. Is there something better to use to attach a holster to those things?

I ditched the holster and pistol tacos for wobble trap day, using a couple of rolly-poly dump pouches. One to hold loaded shotgun cards, the other as a place to catch the empty ones. The velcro on the cards is super strong. The cards would catch on each other and on any loose threads in the pouch. I tried them in a rifle taco, that was a hard no-go as there was velcro inside the pouch and the card locks together at the very first contact. 🐈 🎒

There is about 300 rounds through this thing, still not been cleaned and only one malfunction of any kind, a FTF during wobble trap. It was good as it demonstrated I am getting a bit of a flinch when shooting it.
