As a veteran thread hijacker, I encourage you to continue. You never know where a conversation will lead. That's a good thing most of the time.I can agree on that. I was unfamiliar with the design! Noob life is my life! I mostly always use Federal, or Hornaday(which I would consider a bit boutique-ish) cause my local shop seems to really only carry them, and like two other brands who I’m not always a fan of branching out of my comfort zone for. I saw Halo in a magazine and looked them up. I was definitely liking them because of the design. Reminded me of some sort of medieval weapon by modern means, lol. In terms of practical application they seemed rather sketchy. My CCW instructor also talked about carrying chest seals and a trauma kit in the event that administering some trauma aid can play really nicely in court and I also don’t really want more mental weight to carry if I can at least keep my attacker sustained till EMS arrives. Seems weird for some folks I know but I don’t want to be the reason someone is dead if I could have prevented it. I’d like to know that I did at least what I could to help even if the POS was threatening my life. I can’t justify spending the money they are asking though. Rather get some tannerite and a watermelon to see it go boom, probably cheaper too! Still though, part of me still does want to see that watermelon explode just with a 9mm young, dumb and foolish with funds in pursuit of fun! I appreciate y’all’s input! Sorry to have hijacked Bongo!
I should have mentioned that there's nothing wrong with shooting watermelons. I had a scarecrow sort of thing in the back yard - with a flannel shirt and jeans - and a stake at the neck where I'd attach a cantaloupe. My wife suggested it might be a little creepy and not make the best impression when people would visit. I disagreed and said it left visitors with exactly the impression I wanted.
I took it down anyway. Happy wife, happy life.
As far as first aid goes... my range bag has a trauma kit as do all our vehicles. My several so-called "bug out" bags have trauma kits as well. Having once needed to tourniquet my leg - I'm a believer. If you want a good kit, check out Rhino Rescue. Worth the money. $60 bucks or so. Hope you never need it!
