For a while now I have been somewhat disappointed in the direction Vedder seems to be taking. It's probably connected with their desire to grow the business, so they are increasing production and as it often happens quality suffers.

I've advocated for Vedder for a long time. I still love their pocket "J" holsters for small pistols. But their other stuff... seems to be aimed at the "I just bought my first gun" customer. Now they are selling 'holster pillows'. Maxi pads. WTF. Anyone who buys that ... we can't be friends.

The dealbreaker for me was I recent bought a pocket holster for a G42 I wanted to discreetly carry for a special event. I made the error of buying a 'digital' pattern instead of a solid color and when it arrived I thought it was shitty quality. It looks cheap. So I contacted them and said I thought the film they have started using for camo-style holsters was inferior to what they used to sell. I got a bunch of runaround from some Suzie who works there in sales or marketing and she pissed me off even more by suggesting I send it back at my own expense. I have probably bought a dozen Vedder holsters over the past ten years. I mentioned that. She pretended to not hear what I was saying.

While letting quality slip, they have also been jacking prices for the past couple of years. So fuck them. There are a lot of fish in the sea when it comes to holsters. I refuse to buy holsters that claim to be 'veteran owned' or Assembled in the USA" when the truth is their holsters are made in the Nunchuck Province of East BongBong by a guy named Dung. I'm Ok with that for a 30 dollar holster. Not one that costs 80 bucks or more.

I have two Tenicor holsters. They are outstanding. This is a preferred brand by a lot of pros who carry concealed. Not cheap. But I don't mind paying for quality. So while searching for an IWB holster for my new EDC, the HK CC9, The Tenicor Velo 5 is my choice. It's suitable for AIWB as well as IWB on the hip. Having a couple of a previous model Tenicor's, for a G48 and Beretta PX4 I can state with out reservation Tenico lives up to it's reputation for pro quality. I costs a few bucks more but this is something I use every day. So I'm not aiming to squeeze the shit out of a buffalo nickel. It's worth the extra cost. $125.

If they offered a hybrid iwb style. I'd give them a shot. Looks like all hard kydex.. ive tried those, and just can't seem to get comfortable with that style. I tried the Aliengear hybrid style and haven't looked back.

It seems they are resting on their laurels. The Velo 5 shouldn't cost more than a C note shipped.
Although, I keep forgetting the 50 is now the new 20 and the 20 is the new 5.

I'm the opposite. No love for a big slab of leather on my skin. A lot of people prefer them though. As the leather softens up it's more comfortable but you lose some retention. Not a huge deal but for me, coming out or going in ... I want to hear that click.

I'd be shocked if Tenicor made a hybrid. They are also very selective about what guns they support. I was surprised to discover they had a holster for the CC9 already. They must be selling well.

The $125 holster you like is better than the $50 holster you toss into the box with the 200 other holsters you didnt like. :).

My holster morgue is a box big enough to sleep in.

Well that's disappointing. I've bought a couple of Vedder holsters. They are good quality. But that was a few years ago. Link to my post about my Vedder IWB hybrid holster:

I've never heard of Tenicor.

I debated going with G-Code, which is another premium plastic holster maker but th Tenicor was more adjustable. The G-Code I admit was cooler looking but that's not a priority for me. Nobody but me is going to see it.

My guess is Vedder hired an MBA or a marketing consultant. They have a lot of competition. Pissing off repeat customers is a bad plan. Ask Cracker Barrel. :)

I agree. Happens time and again.

Akin to Blackhawk and Safariland... more popular with LEOs and other pros who carry. Not so much civilians.

It's very rugged. Solidly built. I also like the bulbous backside. Kinda like Greta. :)

Tenicor is favorite holster for the 2011 guys. I don’t think I’ve ever seen a negative review. If I ever decide to carry my Staccato, a Tenicor may be in my future. Admittedly, I still have a preference for leather though

Makes sense since the 2011s are mostly (but not all) race guns. I have a couple of older versions of the Tenicor OWB that I used in a few matches. Waiting for the new IWB to show up. I have my C2 in a DeSantis leather crossdraw. Definitely not an EDC for me. Special occasions only. :) Same goes with the BUL SAS, which fits nicely in the same holster.

Yes. The price of everything went up under Sleepy Joe's inflation and there's always a lot of friction in prices going back down.

Vedder seems to be following a familiar pattern. They had a lot of success and now they have to figure out how to keep that going. Like how Dominos or Little Caesars has to come up with crazy-ass things besides pizza to sell because investors want growth. For example:

Garlic bread bites
Cinnamon bread bites
Parmesan bread bites
Ten different kinds of tater tots swimming in sugar or cheesy drek
Wings
Chicken bites
Crazy Puffs
Dipping sauces
Cookies

This stuff is all garbage. Much of it made out of pizza ingredient leftovers. It's fodder for fat asses who can't get enough carbs and sugar. Some customers can't just eat the pizza. They have to order this crap ... an order of brownies, microwaved chicken parts, and flavored pizza dough. Heart attack fuel.

Newb gun owners are similar to compulsive eaters. Obsessed with accessorizing, they will buy anything. Vedder in my opinion has transitioned from a small company that made a decent product to the Dominos of holsters. They decided to go for the low hanging fruit. Personally, I would have built a premium holster line and focused on upselling my current customers to an upgraded holster vs. appealing to the unwashed masses by selling ridiculous accessories. WTF is this junk (below)? They sent me 20 emails about it. So I unsubscribed from all their emails.

If your gut is too big and your IWB has become uncomfortable, buy bigger pants and add a maxi pad. My guess is Vedder is headed for a Cracker Barrel moment. They can sell their stuff to Pugsly. I'm saying adios. Tenicor, Gunfighters, Inc and a few others cater to professionals and other, more serious gun owners.

That Tenicor looks far more comfortable to "wear" CCW than many of the other Kydex contestants available. Form should facilitate the highest function, when it's IWB. Cool!!

OMG...100% true. I wouldn't feed pigs with it.

I'm about to find out. It's an interesting design on the back side. The company says it can be worn on the hip without compromise but there's no way any holster on your hip doesnt print. No matter that you do it sticks out two inches. You have to cover it up with loose fitting clothes. Especially if you have a spare tire.

They suggest AIWB is best for concealability and draw speed - so the holster is designed to accommodate that.

Here's the naked truth: A lot of gun owners can't or won't carry AIWB because they have a big gut and it's uncomfortable. Ten pounds of meat in a two pound bag. Then there are the rookies with poor trigger discipline who shoot their balls off with striker guns that have no manual safety.

I just won't carry AWIB, period. Personal choice. Those who do- fine by me.

I think a sizable percentage agree with you. I'm flexible. Appendix, cross draw, hip IWB, OWB, pocket, SoB ... I pick the carry method I think is best suited for the situation. Practicing on my home 'range' I mix it up. Usually off the hip but occasionally other methods.

My current personal EDC (not duty) as I have said a million times is the Hellcat. I have a IWB holster for it that I have worn IWB and also appendix. That particular holster is not very comfortable in the appendix carry position. I'm hoping the Tenicor will be. Should be here in a day or two.
