Article Link! The Great American EV Fire Sale Is About to Begin

I find the notion that EVs are "inevitable" quite hilarious when the writing is on the wall when it comes to the Free Market's reception of them.

Prepare to be surprised. Ten years down the road, you will be yelling at the TV. :)

What TV? It will be a floating hologram, and I'll be wearing a jet pack.
No, you will still have your TV and be the last guy on the planet still buying gasoline at $15/gallon for your antique Subaru! :)

I've been told similar fairy tales quite literally my entire life. And literally none of it has come true.

That TV is missing the aluminum foil bow-ties on the antennae!

I suggest mental retardation is the cause. I have a hard time believing the accelerator is stuck. It’s not a linkage like a gas burner

Although Toyotas did this because of floor mats jamming the gas pedal. So drivers of gas burners can have bad ruck.

The brakes stopped working? Come on. There’s a fail safe system. Also what about the hand brake?

I do agree Ford EVs are a disaster. Four out of five dentists recommend Tesla to their patients who chew gum.

Yeah... did you notice something else in the video that was a bit odd?

Driver arrested for DUI. What a shocker this was fake. Not.

Apparently DUI...

Do you have a link with that info (about DUI)?

See my quote above. I noticed something odd in the video. The "driver" (who was NOT driving) did not seem under distress at all. His hands were not on the wheel. Rather, they appeared to be pressed together in front of him, in a "prayer" gesture. But he was not frantic. He calmly looked over at the videographer who was honking his horn. No brake lights coming on. So, he wasn't trying to steer or brake apparently. There was no attempt by the driver to take over control of the car.

I'm not familiar with the Ford EV. But most EVs have rather sophisticated systems that either "self-drive" or at least advanced safety systems to avoid collisions. Even my (non-EV) Subaru has anti-collision features that would not allow me to drive into a wall. Hell, it yells at me if I pull into the garage a little too quickly. And, if I pull out into an intersection behind a car passing through in front of me, it cuts the throttle. If I really push it, the brakes will activate. So, how was this advanced Ford EV plowing the wall like that??

The whole thing is just weird.

So it wasn't in "autonomous" mode. But the driver didn't have his hands on the wheel at all. No brake lights, so he wasn't operating the brakes. Presumably, he had his foot planted on the "throttle."

Even so.... it would appear that all the safety "nannies" were not working... or disabled.

I wonder if this guy was looking to win the lawsuit lotto and intentionally caused this to happen.

Or get rid of the car because it 'malfunctioned'. That e-Mustang has had its share of recalls and problems. I wouldn't buy one. But then again I have read reviews of people that like them. Some of the car mags have said the same thing. To me, it's really not a Mustang. It's a crossover SUV with a Mustang logo on it. The 1969 Mach 1 is one of my favorite old school muscle cars. This Mach-E thing is OK for what it is but calling it a Mustang seems like it should be a crime.

Anybody in the market for an EV that doesnt buy a Tesla has rocks in their head.

Probably trying to get out of that POS electric car.

In your quest to provide content with a barrage of Twit posts, you need to slow down and scroll down to read the comments which often provides more context, such as the CHiPs press release Lewi posted above. ;)

It only looked like one hand up to me and perhaps the floor mat was on top of the accel pedal? Maybe he was too impaired to notice and/or do anything about it? But the way the Estang lurched to the right once he came to the opening in the barrier leads me to believe the wheel was already flat.

Personally, I think self-driving cars should be outlawed :D and higher skill requirements be mandated for one to operate a motor vehicle. Perhaps even a tiered system like they have in the EU...

You're welcome to ignore and not read the "barrage" of posts. I share X posts that I feel are relevant or of interest to this group. X is the news media now.

As for reading comments below X posts... I have only so many waking hours in the day. Often there are thousands of comments below a single X post (by a popular person with thousands or even millions of followers)... within minutes.
