Knowing your affinity towards Springfield, I have decided to let bygones be bygones with them. I’ve lifted my self imposed boycott of Springfield Armory. A couple weeks ago at S.H.O.T. they introduced the 10-8 Masterclass and it spoke to me. I was on the fence whether to get an 9mm or 45acp. The coin flip determined 45 was in order. Whew, now I don’t need to stock up on 9mm mags. Ordered last week, picked up today. Now to find time for the range.

Full size 1911. I'd also go with 45 on that gun.

I vaguely recall you have mentioned not minding carrying a full size pistol. So it make sense. I never do unless I have a business reason to do so. Always a compact 9mm for me for EDC. In the officer 1911 realm, I have grown to prefer 9mm. But I have no qualms about 45 in that form factor. As I have mentioned many times, capacity is not a gotta have for me. I need three rounds. Maybe four in the highly unlikely event that third shot is a miss

It’s just a piece of artificial turf my wife bought for the dog. She thought he’d use it during the hurricane. He didn’t and I have it in front of my workbench. Kind of like an anti-fatigue mat.

If all goes as planned, I’ll shoot it tomorrow. Your memory is close. I carry a commander size 1911 the most. I haven’t had a 5” gun in ten years. I saw this gun in a video from S.H.O.T. and it just spoke to me. It’s quite a departure as I usually prefer more traditionally styled 1911’s. First 1911 with a rail, first with a square trigger guard, first bull barrel, first optic cut 1911 and first cerakote gun. This gun scores a 9.5 on the dopeness scale for me. I ordered the optic plate but it won’t be here until Tuesday. It will eventually get an RMR. As for competing, I never have but might someday. It would just be to challenge myself same as golf. I couldn’t give two shits about other people’s score. So yeah, itch is scratched…….for now.

My idea of a great round of golf is I'm alone. Just me, the ball, and my clubs. Same goes at the range. It's not a social outlet for me. I just want to concentrate on what I'm doing.

Nice peice. I own both a 9 and 45 stainless 1911 nm, echelon, xdme 10mm, xd m3 9mm, xdm compact 9mm and now xd 45 compact.
They did have the wrong slide stop in my 9mm 1911.

I may not have the actual mucketymuck names correct on the Croation sensations.
All very good values however.
I thought the compact 45 would suck to shoot but it's actually very nice.
Nicknamed it "ugly little cuss".

The XD 10mm has a reputation for being chonky but is also well known for its reliability. Which is not great with any 10mm pistol.

Ive had XD's since the first gen pineapple grips. They never let you down.

In striker land, The Sig and XD in 10mm are the bomb. Sig gets some props for being a bit more svelte. They are both excellent.

I sent a Kimber Camp Guard back to the mother ship twice. The third time that was needed was not a charm. I dumped it. The shop who sold it to me offered to take it back and give me a store credit. That was the final straw for me and Kimber.

So I took it out today. First things first, I shot like shit. I was pushing everything 5” left. Did it with this gun, did it with my Staccato and my EDC X9 as well. Definitely a me problem. I shot 180 rds of S&B 230 ball. Had a few failures to return to battery. Quick bump on back of slide took care of those and also 5 or 6 time the slide didn’t lock back. Not overly concerned yet as this gun is pretty tight. Not quite Les Baer tight but tight nonetheless. I had these issues with my Staccato for the first 300-400 rds as well and they have since sorted themselves out. The big negative is the grips. I learned today that scoop grips and I don’t get along. I ride the safety with my right thumb which then places the heel of my left hand right where the scoop is. The top part of where the scoop is cut really chewed up heel of my left hand. I’ve put in an email to 10-8 to see if I can get his signature grip without the scoop. I think the grips complete the look of this gun. If not, I’ll try to sand that transition smoother. Gotta love G10. Anyway the optic plate should be here Tuesday so hopefully with a temporary grips change I’ll get it out again next week. Oh yeah, groups were 3-4 inches at 10 yds. This was a private range (not mine) so I didn’t have any control where the line was set. Hopefully with an optic I will tighten it up a bit. My eyesight ain’t what it used to be.

I put G10 palm swell grips from VZ on my Springfield SA-35 (HiPower). Love it.

Yep, that’s the Les Baer method. He won’t talk to you unless you run 500rds. It’s also what I do too. Usually run it extra wet.

Me neither. I have one pair in a drawer. Usually smooth or double diamonds for me. I may have mentioned before about being a traditionalist. And no I don’t have girly hands. I’ve worked telecommunications construction for the last 37 years. Ok maybe they are starting to become girly. I’ve been a fiber splicer the last 12 but I still have calluses. Or maybe that’s just my personality
