We went out to cut the roads and check the food plots today. Little wetter then I expected, not too bad though. Have 5- 3 acre +/- food plots that are raging. Had me worried being so dry last month. Deer are mowing it down out here.
The arrow is my 1000yd targets, ehh 987yds actual. Lol
Had concerns being my side is 4yr pines and they clear cut the 300 acres next door for farming few months ago. Maybe the turkeys are still around too. Got 3 of my box blinds back up and 4 ladder stands- limited to 10 foot. Even thats a challenge still. Life is slowly returning to normal.
End of season might get the Pan out here and build the roads back up. Place has been untouched since my accident little over 4yrs.

Found a few deadheads with the bushhog lmao :( nice 1s too/were anyway. Been working that cotton on the other side.

A little bit of interpretation/context is in order here... ;) Sounds like you're shooting deer at 1000yds...

No deer, just shooting in the off season. I couldnt be out here when they were cutting the pines. My road got moved 20yds to the east on the low laying area that leads up to target. About 1/2 way. At would time you could see clearing from crossroads/where trucks, tractor and shooting platform to the 1000yd mark. Ehhh, not so much now. Definitely not in 2 more yrs.
I got about 8 foot deviation from 1 end to the other, but think its 1700yds or more from "the hill"/ high side with a swamp between.

Had a 20foot tripod I shot off of, best shot 425+/- on a coyote. Wouldnt waste a deer for that shot. Most Id take is 350yds w/308 with under 200yd 99% of time.

About 5 yrs ago was hit by some drunk head on doing 70mph+. 1 frame rail on a F350 was pushed back 6". I survived. Spent couple yrs in rehap and just got released last month to drive(daylight only & good weather). House bound since for most part since 2020.
Basically PRETTY FUCKING EXCITED about being out an fucking about.
Still have trouble walking etc. I can drive up to a blind or stand & with lil encouragement get in or up.

I forgot to add- 10 weeks prior to scumbag drunk committing suicide via my work truck, I had broke my back. So fun fun.

Does that satisfy you query?

I'm happy to see you getting up, out and about. (y) If it wasn't obvious, I was putting pressure on your nuts. ;)

So this is property you own and shoot at? That has deer, turkey and associated stands? How's the dog like it?

My rottie/shep mix LOVED the outdoors. She occasionally brought back "presents" for me but I think the cat actually caught them then the dog appropriated them for herself. :D

One day I'm at this farm looking at a box truck to buy. My dog gets out of my pickup and starts sniffing around. The kid selling the box truck asks me "Does your dog go after chickens?" Me: "I don't think so." and I start looking over the truck. About a minute later I hear a commotion over by the chicken coop and my dog has a chicken in her mouth, shaking it around! I yell "ALEX" (her name) and she drops the chicken (which was OK) and slinks back to my pickup, her mouth full of feathers... :D I found out two things that morning: one was that the truck was an overpriced piece of shit and two that my dog attacks chickens! ;)

I only got released to drive again end of july I think & only in daylight hrs. The dog Fermac is 2yrs june. I brought him out here once last year when we had snow on ground.
They clear cut next door for blue berrys 6months ago. Way too majy snakes around for Captain Dumbass(dog) to roam around. Plus Ive found panther tracks out here.
He has killed 3 possums this yr at the house- alert- snap neck- guard all without command. So Im happy about that. Will put him on a deer later on this year. See how well he tracks, but he's a city dog and I aint down with ticks in the house.
Loads of turkey and fox still. Surrounded by peanuts and cotton, blueberries too next year. The food plots I hope will keep the deer around while they FUBAR THE FKN PLACE next door AGAIN. Dont think he likes hunting. Seems to start a project every fckn August since they bought the place 7 yrs ago.
Hogs havent found it yet, we have another plot mile away. They took few 150/200lbers out this summer. I got to get over there with the thermal & NV clear them out. Rooted up over 5 acres BAD.
I have a JD Gator set up for night hunting.
