Tritium sights are a scam. Change my mind.

Check out the Ed Brown U channel sights.

Defensive shooting… if you can consistently put five rounds in a 6 inch circle at 15 yards you are good to go. One shot after another , 5-7 seconds.

The gun can do it. After the first round most of it is about your stance and grip.

The RO who is also an instructor at my indoor range hates my guts. I told one of the occasional but not regular members their shooting style and form was all wrong. I said, "You worry about the sights too much, you tense up, grit your teeth, make a face like a mule, then you pull the trigger. Do that when you are jerking off, not shooting a pistol. Who taught you this shit? "

Guess who.

AOC?

I completely disagree with that review. My experience has been the exact opposite. I own 4 sets of them.
I would agree. 4+ sets l've installed were Tritium over FO, and they were NOT dim whatsoever. Spectacularly visible.

I did two seven-round mag dumps. 5-7 seconds was about right. But the lighting was hideous and my eyes really struggled to see the sights- it was that bad. Both front and rears are black. Hmmm...maybe just a front dot with the rear black U channel.... that's similar to my Echelon.

I like the front sight to be easily visible and the rear be the U or a similar unadorned notch style. The light pipe variant on the front meets that requirement for me and isn’t expensive. Or just a bright color is fine.

I don’t dislike tritiums, but I do question the validity of them being night sights. They are also kind of pricey for what you get. Wearing some sort of night vision rig… that’s a whole nuther thing! That was the original purpose of tritium sights that Trijicon pioneered.

Even old school peep sights can perform well if the shooter is practiced. And of course you can see what you are shooting at!

The Echelon that doesn't come with an optic has the same type of sights as the Hellcat and HC Pro. I really like that U channel. It's super fast for me to align the gun while presenting after the draw without thinking about it.

OEM Lume Green Front Dot w/ tritium insert, and white U notch rear... btw the new FDE and OD Echelons are VERY cool!

Springfield is on a roll. I regret that I have not spent much time at all with the Echelon. I put about 50 rounds thru it. I know they intended this to be mainly a duty weapon and it seems to check all the boxes in that category. I also assumed they would retire the XD but they haven't. Not yet anyway. Im a big fan of the XD. I've had a couple of generations of them. Most recently the 10mm.

I haven't seen the color versions yet. I'll have to check out the SA web site. The texture they applied to the grip of the Echelon is absolutely perfect. The features/geometry of the frame is really well thought out. I think SA has another winner.

Nice. I do like that ODG. The modular approach to the trigger assembly like Sig is smart. I've commented before that I find it odd that Glock hasn't also done this. It would mean new patents for them. My guess is they have this in the works. It's been speculated that this is the primary reason Glock lost the bid with the DoD to Sig. Anton Glock stubbornly refused to redesign his gun and submitted the 19X for that contract. He's dead. So it will be interesting to see what new Glock leadership decides to do.

She's a beaut, Clark!

Mine. Your mention inspired me to pull this Echelon out and give it some attention. I was reminded what an excellent handgun this really is. I'm going to give it some exercise this weekend.

Just for grins, here is the Echelon front sight in pitch black …

And here is the IDot set on my 26 (and 19) clone(s)…

A scam! And I've fallen for it. More than once.

I submit that in reality, tritium has NOTHING to offer in terms of functionality. They're expensive and they are worthless.

If it's dark enough to pick up the faint glow, it's too dark to even see the target or take a shot.
For my current build thats underway, i decided an expensive set of sights isnt worth it. I went with a high visibility tritium front, but i chose OEM glock plastic rear. Total cost: $50. And the rear sight will go on the expensive Zev slide a LOT easier. The money I didnt spend on expensive tritium sights went to nice red dot instead. But i still have pretty good iron sights. I thought it a wiser play. Cant wait to get & mount the RMR!

good decision

IMO for normal outdoor use they are worthless. No advantage whatsoever. That being said, on a carry or nightstand sidearm, I like them. But if you have a RDS or weapon-mounted flashlight they aren’t necessary. Your mileage may vary.
