For peeps without a 3D printer, but have a Dremel, I offer this solution.
Had these tags we use at work to engrave with valve numbers. Took a handful home to play with several years ago and used one tonight to see if a spring compression tool could be made quickly and easily.
Turns out that 5 minutes with the Dremel made the tool. You could easily make this from any piece of metal thin enough to go between the spring coils. An old dog rabies tag maybe, ideas will occur.
Cut a notch in it the width of the thick part of the striker. Beveled the edges a little.

So, here I'm holding tension on the striker spring and compressing it more than enough to insert the cups with my left hand only, while I'm taking the pic with my right hand. Using the slide as the holder. This does not take a lot of effort when you have something to press down with. Very easy. Not fatiguing to hold in position. The hardest part is fumbling with the cups to get them in place.
