16" is about perfect for balance. Balance point is front magwell, so no nose dive or fighting to keep level.
18" and up it tends to nose dive.
Still alot to work out. Different loads etc.

308 - 16" faxon barrel
Gibbz side charger upper
Aero Precision lower

You take a dump and come back and the gun is gone! Then you see a brand-new hole in the backyard... :D

Not a joke. This little shit has stolen bolts, sockets, wrenchs ,TRACTOR TIRES ON THE RIM and other assorted stuff.

Hell I can see that crap. Its 22' under the house. Exactly 2feet more then I can reach with any contraption Ive conjured up. Plus he knows I cant get down to crawl, so I have to get 1 of the little bastards around here to go get the stuff. PLAY DATE WIN WIN for him. He gets to feel superior for outsmarting me and gets to chase/be chased by someone that can actually run

The best I can offer is pinging him up side the head with a tennis ball thrown wrong handed.WHICH IM GETTIN GOOD AT BTW

Personally I feel the magic length of a 308 barrel is between 20 and 21 inches. Accuracy dwell length ! I have had a few AR308 's in my life
