WEED!

We got in the first one. Started the car and then.... all of us noticed... this car smells like weed! Nooooope! We got out and unloaded our luggage.

We got the agent's attention. She was dealing with another customer who also heard my complaint. The moron had to chime in about how it's legal and he "needs" it for his "medical" issues. I told him I take shits, but I don't want a rental car that smells like shit. Yep... I said it. :)

The car rental agent apologized and directed us to another car. All I had to do was stick my head in, and.... It would seem that Cheech & Chong had just turned it in! It was worse.... a LOT worse... than the first one! It REEKED. NOPE! Not acceptable.

Get the agent AGAIN. I explained that I don't mean to be difficult, but I cannot drive a car that smells like that. I mean seriously... how can a car rental agency not be aware of this? She apologized again. Found us a THIRD car. And finally, it was one that didn't smell.

I honestly don't know how people can live with that stench, which strongly resembles a skunk.

I also think that legalizing weed is an intentional effort to dumb down America even more than it already is. How this has gained social acceptance is stunning to me. Sigh. People wasting their lives away.

Thankfully, we didn't have the same issue with the hotel room.

Whether weed or cigars or cigarettes, if you asked for a non smoking car you should get a non smoking car. Wouldn't think it would matter what the source is "non" is "non".

I've never seen "smoking / non-smoking" as an option for a rental car. And I've rented a LOT of cars over the years. Perhaps by sheer luck I've never encountered a cigarette smoking car. And while cigarette smoke stinks, it doesn't even come close to the skunk-level of stink from weed.

But again... how can a car rental agency not be aware of this problem? Two out of three cars stunk to high heaven of weed. It's nauseating and offensive. It's the equivalent of leaving a big turd in a car.

Gee, why did I already know what the offending smell would be?? I'm weary of smelling it in traffic, at stores, just about everywhere I go... There was somebody burning a hooter in the grocery store parking lot, guy was just standing out there sort of trying to be discreet. Sort of. We were directly downwind. My wife and I just stared at him as he decided to walk by...as we got into our car to leave.

Not all weed smells that bad. People by the “skunk” stuff to show out IMO. There’s all flavors of fruit and sweets that aren’t bad. We have grown CBD varieties like blueberry and it smells like berries. We are trying apple pie this yr. We make tincture, oil infusions and cream. I agree that skunk weed reeks to high heaven. I don’t know why anyone would want to smoke that crap and have their clothes and house smell like a skunk when there are hundreds of strains to choose from. Gross.

We had somebody licensed to grow commercially, next door. He was last growing a variant called "Blueberry Muffin". It did, however, smell fairly skunk-like. I will say the plant was gorgeous. This guy was a true scientific botanist and had an AMAZING garden of fruits and vegetables. And his cannabis plants were stupendous. He's back east now, after having a bad experience with his landlord(ess) who is not mentally stable. Her loss.

But back to cannabis- there are true medical merits to it, and the plant itself is an amazing useful and flexible textile. CBD tinctures I've take for pain- bad shoulder that I abused in construction and around here yanking branches out of trees... and the oil infusions and cream are all valid, and effective. Including the right gummies. Way to go, Michele!

It's getting harder and harder to hire anyone who can pass a drug test here in NC. Even though weed is now legal in NC, I won't have a stoned person driving a forklift or a customer's vehicle. I've had to fire several after they fail a post-accident drug test. They all act shocked when it happens. SMH.

In high school, smoking weed was the thing. I also smoked cigarettes. So did everyone I knew.

In college, I found weed to not be in any way beneficial to getting decent grades and not flunking out. Most of my friends who were stoners washed out of the engineering program. When I graduated, I was subject to random drug tests so even if I wanted to partake in the Ganga I couldn't get away with it.

I gave up smoking tobacco in my mid 20's because most workplaces banned it and I was not going to stand outside in the freezing cold for a smoke break. I did enjoy it but don't regret quitting or miss tobacco at all.

Then I became a minion of Secretary Rice, followed by Secretary Clinton. There were no drug tests other than the one when you first sign on. Being high every day was tempting under Clinton's reign but unwise for someone who had my responsibilities. :)

Medical marijuana is bullshit. It has no medicinal value. That said, I don't object when someone who is dealing with pain or other distress like cancer treatment smoking a joint to get some relief. No issues whatsoever. People who just want to be high all day? I think they are fucking idiots but as long as they dont operate a vehicle or perform a job that requires they not be stoned I also dont care. They are going to kill themselves from lung or heart disease and in the long term have permanent cognitive issues. When they end up in a home crapping in their pants I won't feel sorry for them.

The moron who delivered a new refrigerator for my garage was very clearly stoned. Which is why when he turns 50 or soand cant do physical work anymore he will be living under a bridge

Same here. I have a friend who is the Safety Director at a local plant. The company discontinued pre-employment testing due to lack of candidates that could pass. He still tests them post accident/incident and terminates if under the influence as Warhammer mentioned. The company I work at still has pre-employment and has had to keep raising the entry level wage to attract a higher grade of personnel to "weed out" (pun intended) the stoners.

Cheech and Chong even did a couple of comedy bits on these topics back in the day. Being Tommy Chong is now in his 80's, I question whether they were really the stoners they portrayed, or if it was all just an act. Neither seems to be impaired the last time I saw them appear in public/interviews.

Yep. We also walked behind a dude here that was smoking weed. Had to change our path to avoid it.

Sorry... It ALL stinks. Really bad. It's not the first time I've smelled it.

I don't think my own farts stink. Others disagree.

No proven benefits. ALL other therapeutic drugs are listed in the PDR (physican's desk reference). They ALL have a therapeutic dose. Listed also in the PDR is the max dose. Also detailed are drug interactions. Contraindications. Side effects. Black box warnings. And so on.

Where is weed in the PDR? What is the therapeutic dose? What is the max dose? Contraindications? Interactions? There is ZERO evidence of therapeutic value.

What does a doctor's prescription for pot say? For all other drugs, a prescription MUST include the amount, the dose, the frequency. For all other drugs, the doctor must know or look up side effects, interactions, contraindications, etc.

Furthermore the notion of SMOKING something for MEDICAL purposes is laughable. Yeah, yeah... I know about the so-called "edibles" and "oils." Again... If you want to call it MEDICAL, then it must meet the same criteria as ALL other therapeutic medications. I'll wait.

Quelle surprise.

It's "therapeutic" in the same way booze is. Taking it makes you feel good. That does not make it "medical."

It's amazing that people have fooled themselves into believing that since it's "natural," it's safer to smoke (than tobacco, which is ALSO "natural").

I'll stand by my comment that legalization, and to a far greater degree... social normalization... is intentional to keep people "fat and happy," so to speak. Dumber. Easier to control.

Culturally and socially, they are stigmatizing any criticism - such as mine. They'll call me "stupid" and "ignorant." Just like they did about covid and the covid shot. I can assure anyone (and prove) I am anything BUT stupid or ignorant. I will not back down from my criticism and contempt. I'm not saying they shouldn't smoke dope. But I won't respect it.

Mind you, I don't think it should be criminalized. We've got bigger fish to fry in the judicial system.

I was riding around with a high school pal smoking a doob after midterms in his '72 Challenger. Cop pulls us over. I ate the joint, but John had a bag in his pants. We were both very clearly stoned. The cop asks, "Hey boys, what is that sweet smell? Drivers license and registration please." He looks at my buddy's drivers license for a moment then hands it back, wishing us a nice day. My friend's uncle of the same unique name was a well-known mob boss. Think Tony Soprano for context.

I agree 100%. It's like booze to me as well. If someone wants to be drunk all day, so be it. Good luck with that.

A DUI, which can now include being high on weed, can earn you a 10k fine, mandatory rehab, and a record that's almost impossible to expunge. You may become uninsurable. That's if there's no accident.

I also had convincing fake ID, but it had my real name, not McLovin. :)

And because no one is teaching meaningful History in school anymore, they never learn that this has been a tool of the tyrant for centuries. That and creating the problem and then offering the solution, which always involves giving up something to achieve.

I've never seen "smoking / non-smoking" as an option for a rental car.
Fair point. I guess I have always looked at the multi hundred dollar fee for smoking in a rental to mean you can't and thought maybe some places offered it as an option.

I blame hippies.
