CZ P-01? Any love for CZ?

Heat it and use the sight pusher. A hair dryer is fine if you dont have a heat gun. Beating on it with a punch will fuck up the finish.

The sight pusher is a bit too big. The CZ slide is narrow and just barely fits without falling off the inside edge. So I'm nervous using it.

I don't see a hair dryer doing it. I've beat on it directly with a larger mallet with a plastic head... no dice. This fucking thing isn't moving.

Heat works miracles. I used to jump on breaker bars to take apart a valve flange. Add some heat and it's like butter. They may have used Loctite. Without heat, it's not moving. Sig pistols are notorious for needing an arbor press to get the sights out. Maybe CZ too.

I'm not familiar with that sight tool. The Wheeler I use adjusts to the slide width.

Yep. Heat and Pressure.

Heat did NOTHING. Hair dryer on highest setting.

And I'm whacking on it HARD with a big hammer.

Well, this fucking sucks. This isn't my first time doing sights. Far from it. But this is NOT budging... and the rear sight is noticeably uncentered.

I'll take a look at my 75 maybe it will jog my memory.

I know that some gun mfg's use a locktite formula of sorts on their rear sights. Not sure if CZ is one of them.

I heated it and beat on it again.... NOTHING. I took the lock screw out completely and squirted some CLP into the hole, hoping it will wick out under the sight. Letting that soak for a while. I'll heat it again and try again later.

But holy shit, this is frustrating. This SHOULD be EASY.

Welp.... I gave up. It's NOT moving! I applied oil. I whacked the SHIT out of it. Nothing. Not even a hair of movement.

So, I gave up at least for now. An online search yields no real help.

I've gotta wrap this thing for tomorrow.

So you get to learn how to strip the slide which you will do. :) Then, get a REAL heat gun ($20 HF?) and heat the slide around the sight. And/or use a REAL sight pusher? ;) Hopefully the heat gun won't damage the finish--just don't get too close.

Maybe the sight needs to be where it is? What does your laser bore sighter say?

Is your rear sight the wedge type with flat sides or the one with a curved side?

Czech it out.

Heatgun or butane torch on sight-wait 2 minutes or so- then dust off/freeze spray just on sight. I blow it from bottom of slide up as to not get any on slide- just corner or sight. Whack the shit out of it.
Few years ago I had 1 that would not move- turned out the ceracoat or ? Had rolled up when sight was installed and acted like JB weld.
The pocket torch did the trick- being the heat is on the sight not slide- wouldnt worry about heat stressing the metal-springs etc.

The setscrew should be metric. I assume you figured that out and its backed out all the way.

Note: That CZ Custom pusher is for aligning sights not fully pushing them out.

If memory serves you should push left to right.

Yeah... I'm not comfortable taking a torch to it. I have no idea what that might do to the slide finish. That's a definite no for me. I'd take it to a smith before I'd resort to that.

Well, the wrench that came with the gun was DEFINITELY too small and slipped when trying to turn it.

According to my google research, it is a 1/16th screw. My Brownell's MagnaTip kit (which I assume to be SAE) had a bit that fit perfectly - the smallest hex bit.

Bummer. Heat works. Flame... seems like it would wreck the nitride finish. Certainly that would ruin any paint on the sights. The dots especially. That's not a cheap-ass gun. I wouldn't risk it.

I'd definitely take it to a gunsmith who has a suitable arbor press and a jig to avoid marring the finish. Beating on a slide with a heavy metal hammer makes me nervous. Even with a brass punch you are likely to fuck it up. I prefer finesse over brute force. If I can't make it budge, I utter obscenities for a few minutes, pause a beat and consider using a different tool.

Just for grins this am I put my CZ75 Compact in the Wheeler and it moved the rear sight with a modest amount of torque on the pusher. If you have any Kroil I have found that it works miracles in helping bust nuts that just dont want to move. Old school. That stuff has been around forever.

I mentioned Sig. I bought a used P223 SAS that had expired Trij night sights. I could not get the rear sight to move without beating the shit out of it. The gun was pristine so I wasn't risking fucking up the finish. Even though I was tossing the sights and installing new. I had the gunsmith at my range do it. He told me sights on Sig metal guns are often stubborn and you need a press to get them out. My range at that time would install sights for free is you bought new sights in their shop. And so I did.

Same goes for Kimber. Hard to get the factory sights off. And MIM-bers tend to have fancy finishes on the slide.
