Video Ay, ay, ay... People are STUPID (with guns).

Wow. What a moron. A menace to society, really.
Probably kids around, people walking dogs.... Idiot.

I have discovered that a lot of people dont understand that a rifle round - or a pistol for that matter - can still be traveling at a lethal velocity between 1500-2000 yards. They have no grasp of how far away that really is.

Watch to the end. Yikes!

Watch to the end. Yikes!

Old fat guys pretending to be operators. Whatever it is they are 'practicing' is ridiculous. This is not any tactic I've ever seen. It looks like some kind of made-up CQB drill. Dangerous. As the video demonstrates. I will forever call this ... The Reach Around!

I once overheard an instructor telling a newbie at a range what it means to 'move off your x'. I wanted to intervene but just let it go.

Another time I was chatting with a guy who was a member of my range at the time who was also an RSO. We were having a great conversation until he started bullshitting me about having been to Gunsite and Thunder Ranch. I knew he was trying to impress me for some reason so again I just let it go. I could tell he had never been to either. I saw no benefit to embarrassing him.

The gun community is full of Great Waldo Pepper's. If you haven't seen this Redford movie, check it out.

It's funny when military or cop lingo makes it into the civilian lexicon. Yet another past RSO I had a contentious relationship with used to tell me... "I'm on your six". What he meant was he had eyes on me but thought that's what being on my six meant. I told him to enjoy the view and that I suspected he was like the Greek warrior who couldn't leave his brothers behind. He looked at me quizzically. The double entendre was lost on him.

What's behind your target.

I dont feel sorry for this mutton head. He's going to prison and when he gets out will never be able to own a firearm again. Probably get 5 years but he could get 15-20. The old lady he killed was holding a baby. This could have been worse.

Discharging a firearm in a residential neighborhood. That's legal nowhere. Unless you are defending yourself. Except maybe in Comanche, Oklahoma. In my nick of the woods you cannot fire across a road or discharge a firearm within 300 yards of a residence - other than your own.

That is NOT what happened. THIS is why non-gun people think guns "go off."

The man was placing a loaded pistol into a safe when the firearm fell to the ground, St. Joseph County sheriff’s deputies said. Afterward, the gun discharged a single round, striking the man in the abdomen.

My rule with guns stored in cases or safes is there is NEVER a loaded magazine IN the gun and the chamber is empty. I will sometimes keep a loaded mag in the case but only empty mags are stored in the gun. I'll usually keep any loaded mags in my range ammo (transport) box.

One exception is the safe at my shop has a 12ga in it with 5 in the tube and none in the chamber. I have a piece of blue painter's tape prominently displaying the status with "5+0" written on it. Rack the slide and it is ready to go to work on any deserved parties... :devilish:
