Often these mass gun seizures are spurred by a drug running, gang or act of violence investigation. I did not catch any sign of those triggers in the article. It seems that this person was completely disarmed and thrown in a cage for simply having a PMF. That is some evil, authoritarian behavior right there. The presence of a suppressor in the collection indicates someone who can pass AFT scrutiny. Maybe he made the mistake of moving TO New York from a free state?

First, you are perhaps unwittingly confirming their position by agreeing with the notion of the existence of "assault weapons" and that ARs and AKs fit that imagined category.
