How do you like the optic? Debating on getting one for my p80 but honestly never really used one on a handgun. Just curious if they are worth the money or not.
Optics really are a game changer. Just make sure you get one of decent quality and definitely don't cheap out if you plan to use the gun for serious use (duty or defense).
Absolutely 100% worth the money. Optics are the future no matter what fudds tell you. Lol
This is an oddly and unnecessarily "contentious" topic.
At 60 years old, my eyes definitely prefer an optic. I can't focus on the front sight unless I use my "top focal" shooting glasses, which have the "bifocal" lens at the top instead of the bottom. They work a charm! But I won't have those in a defensive situation.
I've converted to an optic for my EDC.
My advice... get training with a private instructor and practice... a LOT.
The key with shooting with a "dot" is to focus on the target. Do NOT try to "co-witness" your iron sights and your dot. In fact, forget the iron sights are even there.
Target focus and work on getting your presentation dialed in and consistent. The dot will simply appear over the target.
I am faster with a dot than irons. Much faster.
The cool part... once you've trained and gotten your presentation consistent so the dot just appears... It will make you a better and FASTER irons shooter, too.
Last bit of advice: Ignore the naysayers. They don't know what they're talking about. Really. They don't.
PS... change the battery once / year, and it will never "die" on you. Just like your smoke detectors.
