Walther PDP in particular.
I've only experienced ONE of the PDP variants, and while the trigger on it was far better than OEM Glock, I thought it was about par w/my Echelon. That being said, Walther does have a trigger upgrade kit for PDP that, I find pretty intriguing... any experience with that one? I've always wanted a Walther; but I have plenty of 9mm's onhand already...if the upgrade trigger is even better than the OEM PDP, that might push me over the edge. Someday.

Put a scope on the Marlin. The best all around scope that does not require you to sell a kidney is the Bushnell Engage or the Burris Fullfield. Burris is owned by Beretta. Whenever you shoot that lever gun for sport or something more serious, it's mostly going to be a long shot. Scopes are superior to red dots for anything beyond 50 yards.

The Walther PDT (performance trigger) is available on certain PDP models. Or you can add it later. They have a bunch of different PDP models that are purpose built for duty, competition, carry, etc. Also polymer vs metal frame options. DYNAMIC PERFORMANCE TRIGGER - BLACK . Cheaper to buy the model with it than upgrade.

I agree the Echelon is outstanding. I just ordered a stainless guide rod and spring for both my full size and compact. I stuck with the factory weight on the springs but also ordered one lighter and one heavier, anticipating the addition of a threaded barrel and using a can sometime soon. I can't be sure the alternative springs are going to be needed - but they are not expensive.

Thanks, Bongo Lewi. I’m looking at a Leupold Fire Dot scope that’s on sale right now. Perhaps the best of both worlds. Hehe. But I’ve also had great experience with more value-oriented scopes. And could never afford a Leupold years ago. I still have the 4x bushnell that I had as a kid (that’s the only thing I have left) and it’s on my 10/22 and works fine.

I figure the usual working range will between 50-100 yards with the trajectory of the .44mag….though I know it’s effective much farther.

The guy at the lgs was suggesting the .357 variant due to a bit flatter shooting, but I wanted the thumper, to also go with (and can share rounds with) my 629…and the wood on this thing is so nice….they did not have a .357 variant in-stock but my mind was already made up anyways. Sold!

+1 on the 44 mag. My lever guns except one are all 44. The outlier is 9mm and it has a mag. POF Tombstone.

Can't go wrong with Leupold. Even their more affordable lines are very good quality and the warranty is a huge plus. Designed and made in Amurica too.

So, I did this to my liking. I just wasn't happy with the Talon Grip outcome. Not BC of anything lacking from TG, but the original designed grip shape & feel. Yes, I CAN shoot just about anything, and if I may say so, pretty well. But 'is the unit to my personal liking?' is the issue.

SO I grabbed this that fits a Hellcat after studying its grip design, and the P365. The Hellcat was closer, and I ordered the Hogue Handall for Hellcat, and installed it. It turned out EXACTLY how I'd hoped, fit ever better than I hoped; and though my hands and my wife's are vastly different in size, we both really dig the feel of the Reflex now. I've recently read of many just avoiding the Reflex ENTIRELY for that very reason- they didn't like the grip. They should try this. Since this picture was taken, I've tweaked the adjustment just a hair, and now it's perfect, as If it was made for it. I'm not sweating the beavertail lip at the rear.

(corrected) I got the Handall that fits Hellcat. I was distracted listening to a podcast. lol

For those wondering- the grip addition added very little to the width of the gun. Still far more svelte than my G26 clone with a Handall grip.

Looks great. I have put Pachmayr and Hogue rubbers on some small guns like the original Bodyguard and subcompact Rugers.

I still love my Hellcat. I am trying to love the new HK CC9. It's an outstanding compact handgun but has been temperamental about ammo. How's that O-Sight working out?

The NRA mag had a good article about the PDP and all the various models offered now. I just got around to reading it. Walther is leaps and bounds ahead of other striker handgun makers in terms of ergonomics and features. The "F" model they made specifically to fit women's hands is outstanding. I don't have girl hands, but I found the different dimensions of the grip frame appealing. It was also smart of Walther to not do what a lot of gun makers do with guns marketed to women. Make them pink or give them cutesy names. That's a turn off for serious gun owners who happen to be female. It also discourages men with smaller hands from considering a 'girl gun'.

I knew a guy that carried a lavender grip Taurus revolver. He didn't a shit... :D
There are lots of tortured souls in the world. We must remember to be kind to those who bought Taurus revolvers. Sometimes bad decisions just seem to follow a man. :)

I've come across this specific statement more than once. I'd bite, if I can upgrade it with their PDT performance trigger....

The PDP "F" series offers a Pro model with their performance trigger. 3.5 and 4 inch models. MSRP 900 bucks. Retail probably less if you hunt around.

You are, as my Brit friends would say, a very NORTY enabler, you! :ROFLMAO:

Thanks!

I can't say the metal guide rod makes a big difference. It does seem to make a slight difference in rapid fire, although I realize that could be imagined. It's possible the slide tracks a little better and may return to battery a tiny bit faster with the metal rod.

In any case, I'm happy with the upgrade. Put 50 rounds thru it earlier today.

Noice! Available in blk, too, perchance?

FWIW I EDC'd my Echelon in-town yesterday in that dreaded side/fanny pack. Going to get a better solution.
