I'm not sure accuracy/corrections land with people who hate guns. It's like Trump Derangement Syndrome. Facts dont matter. But for those who can't resist the temptation to weigh in on social media, it's best to get to the point and not editorialize.
In that same scenario, too often gun enthusiasts respond to the gun abolitionist with: Listen you dumb motherf----er, let me tell you how it really is.... You lose them at dumb motherf---er.
Personally, I reserve the "you are a dumbfuck" comments to posers who think they know everything about firearms or gunfighting in all its incarnations. I'm not sure which of the two camps I can't stand more. It's only natural I gravitate to gun owners. I spend more time engaging pro-gun people than gun haters. I tend to ignore or avoid the latter. Waste of time.
You cannot convince someone who doesnt know you or trust your opinion to change their mind about something like guns. Or politics. Or religion. In all cases, most people are emotionally invested in what they believe. Arguing with them is pointless.
The collective have traded the discipline of independent thought for the mindless mob rule of social media. I mentioned recently that some sociology experts believe it takes around 50 years for significant social change to occur. We are only half way there with social media. In the end, it will fade away but it's going to be a couple more decades before that happens.
