Be careful about installing solar panels on your home.

Well, look at which industry is #3 in the top 20 of lobby money spent:

Not surprising.

I think they are mostly bribing politicians and insurance commissioners over health care insurance issues. One reason our health care system is so f-ed up.

Normally I lean in favor of free markets. But when you cant buy a house because insurance companies refuse to work in certain areas and mortgagor's will not approve a loan without insurance... that to me commands regulation. Like how public service commissions used to oversee utilities to make sure they were not gouging people. In return they get a regulated monopoly and a guaranteed profit margin. This worked for electric power, gas, and telephones for the better part of the 20th century. Those public service commissions were positions held by community leaders, average citizens, and local business people.

Deregulation fucked the consumers of electric power, gas, and telephones. Think about how much we are paying for cell phones. Before that, the companies had to spend billions on running copper wires everywhere. Building central offices. Employing a hundred of thousand people. Line crews, equipment, etc. Now they dont have to do any of that and charge us four times as much for a telephone number. AND they are selling ads and our data to the highest bidders.

Ah, but it's not about insuring the PANELS. The inscos won't insure your HOUSE if you HAVE panels on the roof. It's the HOUSE, not the panels. Put panels on your house, and the insco will DROP your HOME OWNERS coverage.

And while I'm not a fan of inscos, I can't blame them for canceling policies for home where the owner has jeopardized the integrity of the house structure such that they are at MUCH higher risk for damage / loss in a storm. Gee.... who woulda thunk that bolting a SAIL to your roof would be a problem during hurricanes? That's not to mention drilling HOLES through the roof.

And yes... if you have any knowledge of Physics and aerodynamics... this is a HUGE problem during a hurricane. It is a sail that will either be ripped FROM the roof (leaving big holes).... or ripped WITH the roof... and will go "hasta-la-bye-bye" in a hurricane.

I suggest leaving Florida.

Well then nobody should have gutters either. Same principle applies. Or trees in their yard. Or satellite dishes.

Dont ya hate it when this happens?

The solar panels are gone. So is the Corvette. I'm just glad no one was hurt.

Leave Florida, the Gunshine State, because inscos won't insure a house with solar panels that I have absolutely zero interest in?? Ha!

Today solar panels. Tomorrow trees. And homes with Trump signs in their yard.

A former insurer (for a different home) a few years back asked if there would be firearms and ammunition in the home and you had to initial that on the application. I checked no.

Just wait till the people fleeing blue states for the freedom and opportunity they voted out of existance in their homestans come to Florida and turn it blue. Florida was a purple state and it could swing back. Remember hanging chads?

There are a lot of Coloradoans wondering where their Second Amendment went. Meanwhile they voted for the highest minimum wage in the country and are running their restaurants out of existance. What is next on their trip to Blue State Utopia?

America is a diverse, mobile country, pulling up stakes and moving to states with better opportunities is part of our DNA, for better or worse. Not everybody thinks or votes like you. Just look at the heated Racer88 vs Bongo Lewi debates on this forum. You guys probably argree on 99% of things but do you get heated about the other 1%! It's like watching 2 brothers fighting in the back seat on a long road trip. 🌪

Also notice that "firearms mfgs" are not on the list as the Dumpos would have you believe. 😠 ie: "in the pocket of the gun lobby"

I am not home right now but will post a pic when I return

And probably a good time to mention the elephants on your roof: What if you are under siege? How long will your battery backup last after your solar panels have been shot up? Will they short and start a fire? Is the propane for the generator underground? I'm not trying to be confrontational, just posing some higher-level SHTF "what ifs?"... :)

Also, as I have not researched this but maybe you know: Do solar panels come in white?

What do you mean "wait??" The libs have been moving here in droves for literally decades. Even more during the covid hysteria. That ship has LONG since sailed. YET... the opposite seems to be happening. We're going from purple to red. Dade county went RED in 2024. That is ASTONISHING. Dade County has been DEEP BLUE for a LONG time.

Ah... "heated?" Naaaaaa. Worthy sparring partner is the reality. ;) Spirited debate grows your brain.

Yep. That's actually what led me to research the ranking of leading lobby groups in terms of money spent. I was curious about the "evil gun lobby" that has "so much influence over congress." Specifically the NRA.

All we hear about is the NRA lobby money. So knowing that such things are public record, I looked it up! Shazam! What a concept! Instead of taking the media and politicians at their word... look it up MYSELF! It was then I learned that for many years, the NRA spent about $5M per year. But that has since dropped to about $2.5M per year. Hmmmm... $5M sounds like a lot of money, but IS IT??? My guess was that in the world of lobbying, that might very well be a pittance.

So, that led me to look up the top 20 industries for spending money on lobbying. Holy cow! The NRA isn't even at the "kids' table" at this feast. The NRA is penny-ante shit! I delved further to learn that the ENTIRE gun industry lobby money comes to $13M. If you consider #20 (banking industry) comes in at $64M, the NRA might not even be in the top 100. Maybe not the top 500.

Ironically, I did this at the time of the covid hysteria. So, naturally I noticed the #1 industry was Pharma. Hmmm.... Maybe THAT'S why the dot-gov is so keen on everyone getting covid shots??

So I broke it down even further.... who are the top players within the #1 industry of Pharma when it comes to money spent lobbying the dot-gov. Hmmmm..... Which individual pharma corp comes in at #1????

1756753128659.png

Consider that Pfizer ALONE spends more than the ENTIRE gun industry. Is it REALLY a wonder that their covid shots were pushed so hard??

But why aren't we hearing any hand-wringing rancor over the undue influence of companies like Pfizer? Or the Pharma industry as a whole???

Instead they're raising their fists to the clouds about the NRA spending a paltry $2.5M?? Oh... wait... they don't reference factual numbers / dollars. They just hyperbolically declare to the public that the NRA has "excessive influence" over Congress. It's laughable when you look it up for yourself, eh?

As a bit of a social experiment, I've asked folks I know who they think is the #1 spender when it comes to gov't lobby money. INVARIABLY, they answer, "The NRA." Think about that. How would they come to that conclusion?

I am STILL hearing/seeing ads from Pfizer for the "covid vaccine". 😠 Apparently there are still plenty of sub-intels out there...

I told my US Rep that if I didn't see him actively looking to defund/deplatform Big Pharma, I would have no choice but to assume he was getting kickbacks (donations) from them, which he has denied. I'm talking about getting RID of all the fucking commercials we see/hear every other ad in-between slipNfall ads.

Thread drift alert. But what the heck...

During the covid hysteria, ALL of the TV news shows were "brought to you by Pfizer." And I do mean literally 100% of them. It was nuts. So, yeah... ya think the news media is going to raise any questions about the Pfizer covid shots?!?? Noooooooope!

"Ask your doctor about the purple pill." Except now they don't use the term "doctor." Instead they use "provider," which is intentional so they can pass patients off to lesser-trained auxiliaries and the inscos can save money by paying less for a "not-a-doctor."

A lot of doctors haaaaaaaaate the medication ads. It's the same as the "google doctor" patients that come in asking for specific medications or treatments. Doctors don't like it (for good reason) when patients come in seeking a specific drug instead of actual medical advice.

500 gallon tank is buried. The generator can either power the house directly thru the breaker panel transfer switch or I can route all the the power to the batteries and charge them up. The generator burns about a gallon of propane per hour, depending on the load it can be a little more or a little less.

The panels are fused, the frames grounded, and all of them combined have a circuit breaker. If they get damaged and short, no big deal. It wont fry the inverter.

The new battery will power the house approximately 3 days if you only run the essentials. So if the panels get shot up.... it is what it is. Bear in mind the panels are not on the house. So the zombies or whatever would need to decide to purposely destroy them. My future EV plugged into the house would give me another 2-3 days. So almost a week if the panels are destroyed. I can also charge off the grid if it's up.

I have a long uphill driveway, sensors and cameras. I also have Bertha Butt... the Noreen 50 BMG. Charging up the hill in a vehicle aint gonna end well for the bad guys. Whoever is inside is going to look like somebody spilled the ratatouille. If they get out of the burning vehicle and run, there's no cover for 60 yards. Pfft pfft pfft goes the 300 BLK carbine with a can. I call it Baba Booey. Thermal scope. Like shooting hogs in a barrel. The scope is so good you can see their footprints on the ground. Everywhere they step.

There are white solar cells. The natural color is a bluish black as you know. A company in Eastern Europe claims to have white solar panels but I haven't seen or read about them in the US. Check out Bisol. The also have a panel that's a clay color. Like clay roof tiles. Sort of a brownish red.

I am disappointed to hear this week that Walgreens and CVS have now restricted COVID shots to requiring a doctor's order. I was hoping that the nitwits would keep compulsively getting them every six months and die prematurely.

That's interesting. I wonder if now the doctors will then incur some potential liability. If they prescribe it, and there are adverse effects, at least with any other prescription they may have liability.

"OP was attempting to do the right thing by getting solar installed. Solar energy is the most sustainable way to power a home, as it does not rely on fossil fuels, which create greenhouse gases when burned."

Highly biased opinion and totally ignores the environmental impact from the mining the materials used in the production of the panels, the methods used to produce the panels, and the environmental impact from the eventual disposal of the hazardous materials in the panel. That's not even looking at the fact solar is terribly inefficient.

If they can get the efficiency to near 90%, I will be all in as you will be able to power your home with a much smaller footprint of panels and hopefully the cost and reliability will increase over time.

I don’t see a denial in the HOA reply.

He sent in a plan that didn’t comply with thier standards.

They specifically told him what needed to be done to get approval.

That’s not a no.

I honestly cannot imagine buying a house in an HOA. To beg permission for something like this (or anything you want to do to YOUR house / property) is anathema to the American way of life. But I think it's amusing when libs fight each other.
