Plaquenil Side Effects on Your Eyes and Vision
Like they say... Sometimes the cure is worse than the ill.
Fun fact
In 1982 on the Enterprise we were again told that we would need to take Hydroxychloroquine for our visit to Mombasa, Kanya again. Because of the optometrist on the Ranger telling me that my vision problems may have been caused by Hydroxychloroquine, I told the corpsman that I could not take it, and went back to work.
A few hours later a Senior Chief from my squadron stormed into my shop an asked the Chief if I worked there. The Chief said I did, so the Senior Chief said "He's on report and he gets no shore leave" for our port visit in the Philippines in a few days.
Senior Chief looked at me and asked "Are you him?" I confirmed that I was and he asked "Did you say the you would not take the Hydroxychloroquine?" I replied that I had said that I cannot take it, and explained why.
He asked me a few more times if I had said "I won't take it" and I finally got tired of answering the same question so I answered "Goddamnit, Chief, I sand I CANNOT take it"
He looked at the shop Chief, and said "Belay my last" then got me an appointment with the Optometrist on the Enterprise, which led to me being flown to the Philippines, then Yokosuka Japan, San Diego, and finally Letterman Army Medical Center on The Presidio of San Francisco for treatment and eventual discharge from the Navy.
