I'm looking at a few options to consider- one is the Beretta PX4 Compact, the other is the CZ P-01 Compact. I really like the forged aluminum frame it has (still weight-savings but not polymer), I like the lines, etc. I've always admired the CZ-75. Never had the chance to fire it, or its variants. Looking at a Cajun GunWorks or CZ Custom upgraded variant.

As fart as the PX4, I'm looking at Langdon Tactical upgrades, but that's another sidearm that I think I've enough information on.

Anybody have personal stick-time with the P-01?

I own over a dozen Cz handguns.
Including a p01.
Should you buy one?
Yeah why not.
Is it my favorite cz? Nope.
For some reason it's not that comfortable to me.
It should be. It's not rational that the poly framed guns shoot tamer for me.
But I find the p10c p07 p09compact to be the better not so compact compacts.
My favorite is actually the phantom which is a full size 75 with poly frame.

You cant go wrong with either choice. Comes down to what your hand likes.

I've had a few CZ's. I shot the 75 a lot and also carried the RAMI as a subcompact conceal for a short while. What's not to like? They are accurate, reliable, well made. The slide running inside the frame instead of outside... ? Seems to lend it self to the guns accuracy. I like the metal CZ better than the polymer. When it comes to polymer handguns in the slightly upgraded from Glock world I'd choose HK or Walther over CZ. CZ hasn't really done anything radically different for a long time. The race guns have a loyal following as we all know.

The PX4 ... I have had one since it first came out. I especially like the subcompact. That pistol has the smoothest action ever. Like it was slathered in Crisco. It's a sheer joy to shoot. The Langdon upgrades make it even better if you plan to carry it. I haven't had that done to mine but I have considered the Langdon flat trigger. Perhaps the full Monty NP3 package.... Spurless hammer, more slippery parts, etc. Langdon gets great reviews. Pricey! It's a decent pistol in the factory standard configuration, so you could wait in the upgrades and still be happy.

Full disclosure: I am a hardcore Beretta fan. The 92, Cougar, and others... in my opinion are among the best handgun designs ever. On par with Browning's genius. I guess you learn a thing of two making weapons for over 500 years.

Aha! Last weekend my daughter fired a friends CZ 75 P01 OMEGA and really liked it. We've been trying to find the "right" pistol for her. And it appeared we finally found the "Goldilocks" gun! But then... CRAP! The Omega version has been discontinued!

So my question is how does the standard P-01 shoot / feel compared to the Omega version? I know the differences between them in terms of the shape of the trigger shoe and the decocker. But how does the trigger action differ, if at all?

I'd look at this before buying. Perfect for smaller hands but no compromise in functionality. They also have a 3.5 inch version. Walther has the best triggers in the striker world.

CZ P-01 Omega 9mm Pistol - BLEM For Sale - CZ USA Firearms

It's in stock.
Nope. They are not in stock at any LEGITIMATE dealer. That site is a scam site. To wit, look at the payment options. No credit card option. You'll never get a gun, and your money will be GONE.

This is in your neck of the woods. Maybe this is old but worth a call to them.

Hmmm... that's a blog entry without a date. But I'm betting it's an old blog entry, and they won't have any Omegas in stock. I'll contact them. And I'll check out that video.

Well, crap... that video is comparing a highly modified (Cajun Works) P01 to the Omega. So that's no help.
Call Cajun Gun works and ask them the differences. I don't own either one so I can't give you advice. You could also take her to a gun shop that has the regular P-01 in stock and have her operate that one to see if she likes. Probably not a whole lot of difference other than frame material/coating. She also may like some of the SAR compacts.

Cajun Gun Works modifies them for a fairly high price. I'm not looking to do that.

There are no local gun shops with the P01 in stock. I've checked. But one dealer can order one for me.

So, you see my dilemma. I'm SOL right now. This is the ONE gun she's fired and really liked. And it's fucking discontinued. I don't want to buy a gun blindly.

Not saying to use them. Call and ask them what the differences are. If they are a good company, they will take a few minutes to explain.

Hello! I'm calling you with no intention of patronizing your business, but I'd like some advice.

LOL! No.

There is a possibility that you could be a future customer. If you like your daughters CZ enough, you may get one for yourself. If you get one for yourself, you may want to get a different trigger. Not saying you will ever be a customer of theirs but never? I'd bet they would take a few minutes to take your call.

If you don't want to call them and it sounds like you won't, try a CZ forum and ask those that may know the differences. If I had more of them, I would join. CZ Firearm Forums : CZTalk
