Elon Musk wants Tesla Model Y drivers to pay to unlock more range

I could mention the true purpose behind those "pop and bang" tunes, but it would be a moot point being as alot of people are doing it nowadays just for the noise, not the actual gains/purposes behind it.
Look, I GET the science behind an actual tune, I'm a tech as well. But unburned fuel (in excess) leaving the cylinder is wasted fuel (and power). With Mfgs spending billions tuning their cars WITH cats hooked up, no benefit is achieved by removing the factory high-flow cats unless you are racing and pegging the redline continuously (on a closed course)... 99% of people drive at low rpms where backpressure is a GOOD thing.

Reminds me of how people ruin Harleys by installing straight pipes...

All the work on my STI was done when a new short block was installed (due to a spun rod bearing on the original engine). When the turbo-back exhaust (sans 3 cats) was installed, it was also tuned (Cobb Tuning Stage 2)... taking it from 300 to about 350 HP.

I did run it on the track regularly (red line) but also my daily driver. Mind you, I didn't baby it on the streets, either.

The bonus was the sound! This ought to "offend" a few! LOL! It was THE most fun car I've ever driven... not just owned... driven. I've driven all manner of exotics, including Porsche, Ferrari, McLaren, Lamborghini. And yep... this STI was the most FUN car to drive. A beast!

It only lasted 6,000 more miles after this video was made. Broken piston ring land grenaded the engine. Then I sold it.

The phone video doesn't do it justice. But different strokes, as they say. Love the "boxer growl."

I spanked a lot of Porsches on the track with that car. Amazing car.
