I got a fever... the fever for more cowbuilds! Anyone else got a fever?

It is indeed. And quiet. The BR parkway isn't far but not many tourists venture off the beaten path in my direction

Sometimes I feel like I'm four hours from everywhere. But that's something I have learned to live with. Sparta is the closest town. Not too far away. It's like Mayberry. Damn Yankees and young adults seeking alternative lifestyles haven't invaded like they did in and around Asheville. I bought enough land to be relatively neighbor-free no matter what happens in the future. I looked around Hendersonville and liked the area but I couldn't find a parcel that met what I was looking for. Besides acreage I wanted high ground/hilly surroundings.
Asheville used to be a nice place 40 years ago. Home to 30+ craft breweries today due to the mountain water that is both pure and pH neutral, which is advantageous to beer making.

"Alternative lifestyle" is too subtle a phrase. Now it's a freak show, and very liberal. There are bumper stickers sold that say "Keep Asheville Weird. A quaint and cute slogan when it first appeared, now it's all too true. Not that it's any more dangerous than any other city its size, but sanctuary city status attracts and creates the same situation now happening in southern CA.

It's also gotten crazy crowded. I-26 from before the airport to I-40 stays under perpetual construction. When we have to go to Asheville, we take the back roads when we get close to the construction.

Hendersonville hasn't succumbed to evils of Asheville yet, but it's just a matter of time before it's absorbed into the Metro Asheville area via encroachment. For now, it still has that small town feel. There's an authentic German restaurant we like to eat at when going that way.

Austin used to be a nice place too. Now it's a liberal den of iniquity. Dell set up camp in their go-go days and that started the transition. I had couple of weeks of training at Ft Hood a long time ago. The hipsters were just beginning to migrate there. I went back years later and couldnt believe how different it was.

  • My first wife would have pulled the plug and called the insurance company
  • My second wife would have asked the doctors to provide her with sedatives for the stress
  • My third wife sounds a lot like yours.
Welcome back. I have great admiration for those who keep swinging and never give up.

Viking, that literally got me choked up. That kind of love and faith is far too rare these days.
She sounds like a keeper! ;) (y) My wife would be asking how soon she can pull the plug...

Wow. Welcome back. (y) Great woman. I have learned something from your post if I ever get in a coma. Moving your legs and arms was pretty insightful of her. She never gave up and folks should never give up.
There is a 25 year age difference between us. I was 6'5", and 280 solid when I went in. I lost 60 pounds of muscle in a month. Couldn't speak, couldn't move. There was a day that 4 nurses were flipping me over to clean my backside..my wife was helping them. If I could have spoken I would have told her to leave. I never wanted her to see me like that. I was kind of questioning our future. I didnt want my beautiful young wife to give up her life for what was left of me. When they flipped me over I had tears in my eyes..shame? Embarrassment? Who knows, but I'll never forget the look in my wife's eyes...nothing but love. No pity, no embarassment. She actually made the nurses leave so they didn't see the tears in my eyes.
I have no words..She saved my life. She saved my hands and feet, they wanted to amputate. She got me walking again..I sure don't deserve her, but I'm very grateful to have her. She is my whole world.

This sounds like the closest thing to Christ's love for us exhibited on this side of the veil. 😇

Hebrews 13:2
Do not neglect to show hospitality to strangers, for thereby some have entertained angels unawares.

Sounds like you lucked onto marrying an angel brother. I don't know if you knew she had that in her before but sometimes God sends us lessons in surprising and unexpected ways. Thank you for sharing, I am in awe. 😍

I think I need to get started on a build! So I can post some GUN BUILDING stuff. Remember gun building? We should talk about that a bit, eh? ;)

Unfortunately, most of that is behind me now. I have posted a fair amount of content though, if peeps wanna dig into the archives. 😇

Someone's gotta take one for the team!

Was working on my GPT for large frame Glock/clones. So, so, so, close now.

I'm still trying to decide which one I want to build next. I've got a few to choose from.

Write down each of your projects on a slip of paper. Fold up each slip and put them in a jar. Have your wife pull one out and there you go, decision made.

Paraphrasing to fit the situation but "this is my pistol, this is my gun. one is for killing one is for fun"

I dunno. I don't think I've learned enough. :) Or so some experts have advised. About a third of these have few or no OEM parts. Half of the Palmetto frames have the original internals. A couple have trigger upgrades. Same goes with P80s and GST-9s some OEM, some generic triggers and trigger and rail upgrades. They all run great.

I do have a few ladies in waiting but no plans. A couple of P80s and a white GST9 still in the box, unopened (not shown). I hand dyed the blue one.

Yeah... Apparently I need more practice building... So I can get my build time down to the 30 minutes all the politicians say can be achieved by even an inexperienced / untrained builder. I'm feeling very inadequate. But I'm a persistent bugger.

Cool! I would LOVE for someone to make a CLEAR frame.

I recall seeing a clear frame someplace. But it was while ago. I believe the challenge in that is most good polymer frames have opaque material in the plastic to make it stronger. Thus making transparency a problem. Someone told me that the formula for polymer gun frames is a closely guarded secret among major gun manufacturers. I'm not sure if that's true or not but it does seem plausible.

I believe there are some counterfeit clear Glock frames made in Afghanistan or Pakistan (I forget). But I'm going to wait for someone over here to do it. I've also heard that transparency is a problem due to the ingredients needed to make the polymer strong. The clear ones that have been made are reportedly for demonstration purposes only and cannot be fired.

But come on, man! We put a man on the moon! Not a joke.

Supposedly it's some variation of Nylon 6.
