Is milling the future of PMFs?

If you are not a member of Reddit, you should consider joining. There are a number of decent sub-reddits like r/fosscad, r/polymer80, r/guns, r/cursedguns, r/gundeals, etc. Fosscad is all about 3D printing of gun-shaped objects and accessories. There are a number of decent prints and people to help troubleshoot if you have issues.

I'll just say that I have perused some of the aforementioned Reddit groups. And.... Ummmm.... simply, no. It's a VERY different "element" over there. Some good people, of course. But a LOT of... "element" with whom I'd rather not associate. The format is also just not for me (compared to forums).

I guess I'm a snob! :)

Question to you Jones since you have the gg3. It's my understanding that the newest GG, the GG3s solves a lot of these issues that have been addressed as well as has a bunch of new items available to print and even has an option for 3rd party persons to be able to write programs for it so it can make even more goodies
, addressing the very astute title Michele gave it being a 1 trick pony.
I'm very grateful Racer added this forum. I'm the guy with a 3d printer that is t top of the line, but is capable of printing nylon and carbon. I'm on the fence about getting the GG3......its sounds like the newest version. Is dealing with a bunch of these issues. I know a guy selling a GG3 for 1000, and from what I understand you can send it to GG a d for 269, plus shipping they will convert it to The GG3s.....But then Michelle make a couple very valid points,, why not spend the money on a full sized CNC machine. Or upgrade the 3d printer which can pretty much make anything, just not out of aluminum.

So my question to you Jones...do you think the GG3s is worth it?

Also appreciate the input Clm. I was u der the Impression you put a solid piece of aluminum in and 30 minutes later I got a complete ready to assemble ar lower.

I own a GG3. Thier idea of a zero percent is a 3 piece bolted together that you must buy from DD. The current multi month wait is a huge commitment. I paid my final after 6 months. I didn't receive for almost a year... From another vender, GGD-store, I have been waiting since for the Universal Jig since 02 Jan 2022. So I have a block of electronics that will just decide to mill where it wants to no reason destroying a few 80 percent lowers. Eventually the supplier just ghost you and will not longer respond. I have gotten most of what I ordered eventually. The bad part is win a box of a jig shows up as it did last month with a AK jig I purchased so long ago I forgot I had ordered it. The new guys on the block 2A picker seem to be much better at the customer service side right now.
Thanks for posting up. Great information 👍🏻

Quite impossible. They'd have to outlaw standard machining tools.
Impossible? Not hardly. They haven't outlawed 3d printers or filament, yet print or possess this "Machine Gun" and you're a felon.

Fosscad is pretty decent
Polymer80…wouldn’t touch that place for any amount of money. I don’t recommend anyone post to that sarcastic bunch that doesn’t know how to treat new builders trying to learn

Which is really is a bizarre situation, this ongoing attempt of the US government to suppress the knowledge about how automatic weapons are made, except when they do it themselves. They are engaging in selective prosecution with no real guidelines as to when someone has actually violated the law they created.

The two fellows just convicted never actually made an auto sear or installed it a firearm. The just sold a drawing of one etched on a piece of metal... and I don't know if anyone who bought one ever succeeded in making one work as an auto sear. It was a bit of a sarcastic joke. Meanwhile, dimensional drawings of an actual drop-in auto sear have been available for decades. Bighammer put the dimensional drawings online twenty years ago. The US Patent Office also published the auto sear drawings, as well as the design of nearly every weapon of any kind.... that's their job. So when does someone cross the line with a drawing of a part? The jagoffs in the alphabet agencies can't even define where the line really is. When they choose to make an example of someone, they have to resort to using "intent" to prosecute.

That's what worries me. I have an interest in all thing mechanical, so I have drawings on many things to help my brain work through how parts fit together and function. I also have the tools that could be used to make the physical parts from those drawings. But I have not attempted making them, just like having the dimensional drawings for a Benson Gyrocopter...I've never attempted to make one of those either. But some retard at an alphabet agency could decide that I have the "intent" and prosecute me.

Sorry, just rambling on in the early morning hours. Probably should just toast a bagel and make a cup of coffee.

Would this be another application for "eye bleach" so I don't go to jail? ;) But I'm still thinking about it --does that mean a lobotomy is in order?

I would have to agree there are some A-holes at P80 but also some good people. I DO believe some of the people needing help should not be handling tools (or firearms) in the first place! And the occasional thug with gat or gang poses in their bio seems to be banned quickly, which is a good thing...

I have a lot of "literature" that could fall into this category, "cookbooks" and whatnot. I have actual Army and Marines IE and automatic weapons manuals. Does this show intent? (no)

I also have plans to build a .355" FA pea-shooter as well as other similar devices. I can most definitely say that I will NOT be creating such ammo-burners. When the SHTF and the roaming hordes of thugs make their way into our neighborhood, my neighbors and I will NOT be engaging them close-quarters, spraying and praying. It will be more of a "reach out and touch someone" type of welcoming... :devilish:
