Just rando pics off the web, maybe X? I'm curious the location where the second pic was taken. I don't recall US troops having to be shielded.

No. That's not a random photo. It's used very often to depict the last SecDef, Lloyd Austin. I just looked it up... he was reviewing troops in the Philippines.

Here is Master Sgt. Julia Watson USMC first time ever shooting a borrowed 1903A3 in the Vintage Rifle Match at Camp Perry. Placed 2nd in the Match. All she has known is 5.56 up until this point. Notice her comment about the recoil.

I met Julia at Oak Ridge at the Regional back in the 90's when she was a Corporal. She wasn't on the USMC Rifle Team by accident.
