For those who have not studied economics, tariffs are a tax, imposed on the importer of goods and materials imported into the United States. In the case of these tariffs, this represents an estimated tax increase on US importers of $1.4 Trillion. Much of this tax, if not most, will be passed along to US consumers
Give this group more credit than that. There are some VERY smart people here, and we know EXACTLY how tariffs work. We also recognize that Trump is using tariffs as a bargaining chip... political leverage.
It's also worth mentioning that consumers have CHOICE. They can instead buy American made products, which will now be cheaper than imported products. This, in turn, puts ENORMOUS pressure on the countries that export to the US market when their sales PLUMMET. And, THAT is how leverage works. They will cave to Trump's demands to level the playing field.
Enjoy the ride...mostly downward. They will not, contrary to Present. Trump's pronouncement, make America more wealthy...the tariffs come out of American pockets.
He made things better for EVERYONE during his previous term. He will not only do it again, he will do it even better with a more favorable Congress and his own experience (from his previous term) on how to deal with (and drain) the swamp.
Already things are better. I'm seeing an almost instantaneous increase in consumer confidence all around me.... aka "the Trump Effect."

PPS.... These tariffs will be short-lived temporary measures that will quickly force Canada, China, Mexico, Russia to acquiesce to Trump's conditions for future trade. In other words... MISSION ACCOMPLISHED. Those countries are in NO position to do otherwise. WE (the USA) are holding ALL the cards. They need us FAR more than we "need" them. Without us, they've got NOTHING. We can easily survive without them.
