Best BBQ in SC.
This is the kind of South Carolina barbecue spot that locals quietly swear by.

I love good BBQ. I became a BBQ snob after living in Memphis, TN for 4 years.

I found a great place in Virginia (taking my son to NJ for hockey). It's called "Saucy's" in Petersburg, VA. The BBQ is outstanding, of course. But the cole slaw! Cole slaw is usually a benign side dish. But they add cilantro, pineapple, and jalapenos to theirs! OMG, it's good!

If you get up this way, try the Pig and then write a Foodie Review. ;)

East coast BBQ is crap. Everybody knows that other than the people who live there. 😉

You may be confused by the blasphemy of some surrounding states. SC for instance destroys its BBQ with mustard. Western NC BBQ is the best. Select pork shoulder with vinegar/tomato based sauce. Even eastern NC is a bit confused so, depending on your definition of "East Coast", I might agree with you.

I’m gonna agree with the guy with bolts in his neck. Best BBQ I ever had was in Texas. I prefer dry rub. If it needs sauce, you ain’t cooking it right. BTW I have 3 bottles of sauce in the pantry.

Texas (and MO, I think) are primarily beef. The rest are primarily pork. I've had great Texas BBQ. But I prefer pork BBQ. Memphis is the best.

When my kids and I would go on Cub Scout weekend campouts, we would always eat good. The church that sponsored the pack had a large property with pavilion and plenty of room to do activities, pitch tents and have a campfire. And to cook... :D

The first scoutmaster was big on crock pot cooking. He would have a number of pots crockin' by 9am after the morning flag raising and breakfast. Sometimes Saturday breakfast was hot, eggs and sausages, etc. Lunch was basic sandwiches. Dinner was often crocked pot roast or chicken.

When that scoutmaster "retired" (his son moved onto Boy Scouts), the guy that replaced him would show up with a trailer-mounted smoker. A huge affair he had made himself out of an old industrial air compressor, with at least two chambers that I recall, embellished with chrome strips and accents. (y) It would be smoking by Friday night for Saturday's dinner. Needless to say, we would be smelling it all Friday night and Saturday. :) By dinnertime, we were ALL ready to have some pulled pork and whatever veggies he had also cooked/smoked! 😋

The first campout he smoked at, the scoutmaster over-estimated the amount of pork he needed. There were one or two slabs "extra", and we all went home with a large ziplock full of pulled pork! :D Thanksgiving in July! 🦃🐖

Anyone who knows anything about BBQ knows that Memphis is BBQ Mecca.
People in Memphis tell you that but it’s not the truth. The title would go to Kansas City or Lockhart Texas. Depending on where you are, it’s the way they cook and season the meat and not the type of meat they use but, it is correct, most Texas BBQ is centered around beef as it is such a huge part of their economy

Dude... I spent 4 years there. Ate a LOT of BBQ. There's a BBQ joint on every corner. All of them one-off family run places. Each with a different spin on BBQ. And there's a reason they have the World Championship BBQ there every May. 🤪

We frequented a wide spectrum of BBQ restaurants from dives like "Interstate BBQ" (in the BAD part of town) to the hoity-toity "Rendezvous" (famous for dry rub ribs).

If I recall, Kansas City is all about beef short ribs, right? I'll eat'em. But not really a fan.

Texas is also known for beef BBQ, especially brisket. Again... I'll eat it and enjoy it. I've had some good Texas BBQ. But I much prefer pork, Memphis-style.

On to the next argument...

Is it Pork Roll, or Taylor Ham?
Scrapple, or Liver Mush?
Potato, or potatoe? (Not counting Dan Qualye) :ROFLMAO:

You do know there are multiple World BBQ championships and not just one in Memphis or even in the US? The Memphis one is pretty darn big but so is the one in KC.

I think they emphasized "THE" for the Memphis world championship. ;) LOL!

Kind of like THE Ohio State University. ;)
