"Tolerance stacking" begins with the pin holes. The way your build works out begins with the pin holes. The way the entire complex of internal parts works in your build depends on precise placement of your pin holes.
The jig is made of plastic, so it's not "error proof." A spinning metal drill bit will go through the red jig easily if it's off-track. The jig hole provides an "aiming spot." But, it will not prevent an errant hole. It's not actually a drill guide.
