I figure I'd get this thread started. I've decided to "get going" on this build. This was one of the awards provided by @Michele. The slide was etched by @Michele. Gorgeous!

I think I've got all the parts I need... or at least most of them. It may take me a while to get it to the "final" version. But I'm ready to get going. This slide back-plate just arrived! Love it! Like a jewel! And the Celtic Knot matches @Michele's etching on the slide pretty closely.

I got it from Etched Ordnance. It arrived nestled in this cotton-lined jewel case!

I will post progress in this thread.

šŸ‘† That's a beauty! šŸ‘
Envious! And, I don't get envious often. If ever.

Welp! I figured I'd start with building the slide (upper) first. Easy enough, right? Well, either I'm an idiot who forgot how to do this, or "Houston, we've got a problem"... from the "git-go."

First step... insert the extractor and firing pin safety plunger, right? Except the plunger will NOT go into the slide. It drops in this far without any resistance and then comes to a halt.

It's not that it's "tight." It's BLOCKED. By this ridge (seen here at the bottom of the hole in the next photo below). It drops in freely a couple of millimeters and the runs into this machined flat spot.

The only way a plunger will go in there is if it had a "flat" or "facet" on one side. The hole machined into the slide for the plunger is not completely round. It's got a flat on the side towards the center of the slide.

Is it possible this slide is not a Gen 3? Requiring a different safety plunger? And as such... incompatible with... well.... a P80 build?

Or am I an idiot? LOL!

Paging @Michele @no4mk1t @GSW10 @USApat

OK... I AM an idiot... or living in the Bermuda Triangle or something....

It just dropped in as it's supposed to. I don't see that ridge there anymore. It's gone! LOL! I swear!

I must have not been "holding my mouth right!"

Just assembled the upper / slide. No sights, yet. Open to suggestions on sights that would do this slide justice!

For sights start with standard Glock steel sights and go from there,
with Mirror polished slides dark colored sights will work just fine if the frame is black as well.

Frame is Cobalt. But, I'm thinking black sights, too. Maybe the Heinle sights.

Or the same Steel City Arsenal sights I put on my PFC9 (EDC).

I just realized that the Heinle rear sight has a flange that extends forward... may cover some of the etched pattern. No bueno! Steel City Arsenal is looking better.

Glock sights come in various heights. Which one to get? G19 size frame.

I went ahead and ordered some steel Glock sights for now.

I just put the slide on my PFC9 frame just for fun and a little function testing. Oh, baby!

Pearl Handles is all you need.

Why doesn't someone come up with a frame, you can add walnut, or pearl grips??

Yeah, chrome the whole deal. Great suggestion šŸ—½
Probably sounds like Racer has his own plan, but it's doable.
But, with a lot of work and probably not a P80 lower.

Matrix Arms sells Glock 19 style metal aluminum frames without a slide (requires FFL). Maybe they would ship you a special order, non-anodized frame, or an anodized black grip only.

Full list:

Or, the harder route would be to disassemble an anodized frame and then strip the anodized coating off the remaining frame and then have a go at polishing it out from the ground up. Chemical removal is probably the best process to get to the polishing steps. They have a gunship gray one to start with on removal:

Anodizing does add some hardening to the aluminum, but that is probably moot because it's the frame and being aluminum is a lot stronger than a P80 Polymer frame. There are bicycle guys (mountain bike) that strip anodizing off some of their aftermarket pre-anodized aluminum parts just to have a different look.

I'm a big fan of all polished bling with a mirror finish. If I had that upper, I would be giving serious thought to doing that and finishing off pieces like the trigger, pins, sights, magwell, etc... in black. Major bling and would perhaps out-bling even GoldieLocks but would be a high-maintenance fingerprint magnet and require you to take it to your local professional carwash for detailing and waxing every month for some Luv and upkeep! LOL

My plan, for now, is to use the Cobalt 940C frame that came with the slide. :) I'll dress it up with silver / stainless control bits.

Those MX-19 frames are $650! Yowza.

Hydrographic dipping.

Leave it to @Mooner to sniff out the appropriate vendors online! Or, @Miltonboro !

THERE YA GO @Racer88 ! Just spray that shit in your home office and your wife will luv ya. Tell her she gets to shoot the gun when it's finished. šŸ˜‰

Chrome the entire lower!
Don't know how you would do that, but it would be total bling.
:ROFLMAO: ...And you know, he WOULD do it too!
I remember hearing a "book on tape" someone was listening to years ago, some comedy-ish something about a private detective, and I just lost it when one of the characters pulled out, I kid you not, "a nickle-plated Glock"! That was it, I kept griping about that until it became a better joke than all the humor in that stupid story... If the writer doesn't have a clue what they are talking about, I'm going to make sure no one else around me enjoys their work either!:outta here:

...You KNOW who she would want to shoot at with that gun if he sprayed that stuff in their house, don't you? I thought you liked it here, man! :ROFLMAO:
