I taught the kids in the neighborhood how to slide down the rails on the swing set stair in the local park. I do not think the neighborhood parents would approve now....

Not really sure they did in the early 1980's either 🤣
 
If I had easy access to a ship I’d do it. Once ya learn how to keep your hand hold without wrapping fingers around the rail, getting all the way down becomes easier. If you ever get a tour of an active vessel you’ll see many of the aluminum handrails are highly polished - that’s from sliding down.

I looked for a video but this is all I could find. No showing of a ladder slide but he’s a young sailor that tickled me with memories. Especially his story about cleaning- same story could be applied to painting
