The point is, UD's can come happen different ways that don't necessarily involve someone pulling a trigger.

99.99% chance it's the result of a dumbass finger-fucking his pistol. 0.01% chance it was a mechanical malfunction. And I think I'm being conservative with those numbers.

Most likely but the facts were a little sparse in the article. Wish we knew for sure as details matter.

News reports never get it right. Usually they'll say "the gun went off." Drives me batty when they say that. Why on EARTH would you want "more details" from the fucking news media?!?? You KNOW they'll be wrong.

With 99.99% certainty, we don't need the news to report it. We KNOW what happened.... with 99.99% certainty. Dude pulled the trigger. That's how guns fire. Trigger must be pulled. Always. He fucked around and found out. He pulled the trigger. Not in a holster. Probably loose in his pocket or "Mexican carry" in his pants waistband.

Probably and your estimate may be correct. It's a guess, good guess and probably accurate, but either way it is an unknown given the lack of information. Correct that it is typically user error but, after seeing so many of the UD videos associated with the Sig, I have a slightly different perspective. Not to mention, for decades Remington and their owners said the same thing about their Model 700 rifles until they were forced to recall and fix the triggers as they did go off without pulling the trigger.

The exceptions prove the rule. Out of the HUNDREDS of MILLIONS of guns... a few have had mechanical failures.

The clown in Walmart pulled the fucking trigger and it went BANG. We KNOW that's the case. Will wonders never cease?

Based on what I know (and everyone here knows) about guns... the countless similar stories about guns "going off," and awareness of the typical "gun owners'" gun safety practices (lack of).

So, yeah... it is with GREAT confidence that I'm "sure" this mofo pulled the trigger or caused the trigger to be pulled. Because that's how guns fucking work, eh? They do NOT go BANG by themselves with EXTREMELY rare exceptions.

There you go again... being contrarian.

I'll have you know that there are dozens of experts on YouTube and Reddit that have never owned or shot a P320 who will disagree with you. And the coverup for this defective gun goes to the highest levels of government and military leadership.

Guns kill people all by themselves.

When you bathe in cow piss, it's no wonder...
I've heard the ARVN said the US troops smelled like greasy meat.
So, your diet influences your natural "fragrance".
I think I'll just stick to Zest and Old Spice. 😋

I havent tried that. I once had a body shampoo at an Asian whorehouse in Joplin, Missouri. I smelled like bubble gum afterwards.

If you were indited for murder and it was actually from a UD/accidental and everyone knew just like you did that you pulled the trigger, how do you feel about being convicted and sent to the electric chair based on beliefs instead of facts?

A bit of a false equivalency. From the "report" nobody got killed (thankfully!). And it won't happen to me, because I don't point my guns at people.

But yeah... all the "I was cleaning my gun and it 'went off' and struck and killed my wife" stories... Yeah... 100% of the are murders. They're LYING. It never happened. But it's been reported SO many times, that people believe it just like they believe Hollywood gun lore.

Again... guns do NOT "go off." You know that as well as I do. And NO, I do NOT believe anyone who says otherwise. My default is guilty for guns that "went off," because I know it's bullshit. If it's not murder, it's negligence. Gross negligence.

I have no tolerance for unsafe gun handling.

No, guns do go off without people pulling the triggers. There are no drop safe 2011's, to my knowledge, and they will discharge when dropped. Plenty of tests showing guns go off without triggers being physically pulled. You are the king of drop safe, so what is it? That's a rhetorical question so need to answer.

As stated, the Remington 700 went off by itself and killed many people and that's a fact. 100% fact, so guns can go off by themselves. Just because you believe something to be true does not make it so and same for me. When we don't have all the evidence, it is not factual; rather, it's an opinion and should not be shared as fact.

Yes, charge would be negligence if it did go off if dropped and or it was accidental. If you are ever on a case like this, speak up loud about your beliefs that guns cannot go off without a trigger being pulled and you will be dismissed from the jury pool.

Haha... you say that like it would be a bad thing! ;) I got rejected from a jury pool during "voir dire" for pointing out that we (the jury) have the Constitutional Right to Jury Nullification. They didn't like that fact getting out! LOL!

I don't have time and can't afford jury duty.

But yeah... with the VERY rare EXCEPTIONS of mechanical malfunctions, guns don't "go off." They are not autonomous.

Uh-huh. One in a million shot!

Was that the Tokyo Sauna?
Yep. It was. I kept the business card from there for years. Somewhere along the way it got misplaced. I heard from an old friend the place is long gone.

There was a guy on the Sig forum a few years back who posted a pic of a hole in the wall where his 'bench' was.

He said he was field stripping his Makarov in preparation to clean it. And it 'went off'. The bullet went thru the drywall, into his living room where his wife was sitting, out a window and into the siding of his neighbor's house.

The OP insisted it was the gun, not him. I looked at the photo again and what do I see? A half empty bottle of Jack Daniels and a glass on his gun bench.

Far be it from me to criticize a man for taking a drink - until he narrowly avoids killing a family member or possibly a neighbor, had the bullet found a window on the neighbor's home.

When I asked him if he was drinking while playing with guns he got a little upset. Who keeps a bottle of booze and a glass on a gun bench in a spare bedroom? Nobody. Unless they are consuming it. Others noticed it as well. That started a free for all. The guy lost his shit and started fighting with everyone. Instead of simply falling on his sword and admitting he majorly fucked up, he remained adamant the gun was the problem. There are a lot of these guys out there.

I don’t remember much about it other than it got raided a time or two in the 70’s. I never visited the place myself but a couple old friends did.

I was 19. Maybe 20.

I had recently left home and had no idea what a body shampoo was. Then I found out. After the shampoo, for a little extra, they loved you long time.

Over the Christmas break from school, I went there with a friend to make some money plowing snow. I left there with less money than I started with.
