Phase 3 of 1301 Mod 2 build...

I think one of these is on my short list. I held one at a recent gun show. Felt very nice.

1301
A300
A400
Benelli M4
Mossberg 940 Pro

Try ‘em all.

Also … if you aren’t sure this is something you will like, check out the Panzer. It’s a Turk Benelli M4 clone and it’s damn good. Even takes Benelli parts. I shot one and wanted to hate it but couldn’t. 500 bucks all day long.

I’m real curious about the panzer.

There isn’t a dog on BL’s list, imo.

I thought the Panzer was surprisingly well built. I ended up putting around 30 mixed varieties of shells thru it. Ate them all without complaint. I didnt pattern it but assume it's going to be similar to the M4. It's a M4 clone. It even looked like the Benelli.

For the price of this 'Turknelli" you can't beat it. I read all the parts are Benelli compatible, so if you wanted to upgrade or add some M4 specific accessories they fit. It doesnt have the fit and finish of the M4 or the Benelli cachet, but having an almost identical twin has got me interested. I wouldn't worry about tossing it into my truck or SxS.

Your personal experience is a good report. I saw somebody at the local LGS a few days ago picking one up, and my curiosity has been piqued in the background, already... and the other day's encounter stoked it further. And yes, the parts are indeed Benelli compatible. I think your suggestion is worthy of exploration!

Sadly, it's been sheer madness around here for the last 6 weeks since my dad arrived, and hopefully that will change tomorrow, (as much as it saddens to say that). And then my wife and I can get back to 'normal' life. And some gun range visits!

Sorry. maybe I shouldn't have said anything about that. We ALL have our challenges, don't we?

Guests start wearing on me after a couple of days.

Nice to see you. And nice to see you leaving. That's my motto.

Self-cleaning piston my a$$! This is after using an electric drill to open up the ring of gas ports. The bottom 3 were so badly clogged with lead I had to guess where to start drilling, it was a uniform blob in that area. Maybe this was what caused the stovepipes in that last class?

Have you shot yours yet?

Please re-ask me in a week from now, sir. Good to read ya, Alex!! I'll have to keep tabs on mine.

My wife wants her own shotty. I may get her one of these and tart it up with a few internal improvements (real benelli parts, o-rings, etc). Very interested.

So here we are, EOY, and not. one. flipping. shot.

After numerous interruptions, delays, etc, I recently found out that our local Sportsman Association's range will NOT allow Tactical Shotguns on the range. They claim "they chew everything up" meaning target holders, etc.

There IS a chance-a very VERY slim chance that they may allow Steel targets for these, but it's largely improbable, and now I have to scout out somewhere where I can shoot this thing. I've met a guy who suggested an area that locals frequent for this very reason, so I'm going to check it out, as the LE can show up and give you guff. I may have to go to the range in Medford. Pfft....

Something to look forward to in 2026!

Yes, your range is correct. Shotguns make matchsticks out of wood and fiberboard targets. My club bans using them on their targets but you can bring your own. I go around my neighborhood the morning after an election to clean up all the political signs on public rights of way. They stand up to birdshot and buckshot surprisingly well. I get extra life out of them with some butcher paper, spring clips and a fat Sharpie. When they become unusable they finish their useful detour on the way to the landfill. ♻️ 👍🏻 😆

Not true if you're using buckshot or slugs. My local indoor range allows buckshot and slugs. The outdoor range - slugs only.

I know- it’s ridiculous and imo just a prejudice against tactical/home defense shotguns. That said, they won’t let a guy shoot his turkey shotgun with turkey loads, either. Somebody has their shorts too tight.

I have some nifty shopping boxes from a few Savior products purchases, and they are laden on the inside surfaces with printed targets. These are what I plan on using for all our assorted pew-pews, including the 1301. Thanks Alex- those political signs are another good option!

What’s more fun than shredding a Harris/Walz sign?

In the days after the election, if you would have been at the right place, at the right time, you could have had a lifetime supply... 😋

So, they won't allow shotguns at all... because they assume bird shot. Easily fixed. They just would rather not.

My former range in GA checked the ammo of anyone shooting an AR. No M855/steel shank. They would run a magnet over your ammo. Shotguns were OK, but no steel or bismuth shot.
