WOTD (watch of the day) Thread. Post yours!

I have a cheaper version of that without the multi band 6. It's a pitty the multi band 6 version of mine is so expensive. It's my favor tire weekend watch. The solar charging is pretty neat. It's the only one I have with that feature.
It's very lightweight and comfortable.

Today, I'm wearing this (Garmin)

Does yours have an all metal case like my gst-s110? I do wish mine was a little lighter.

I've never been a big watch guy, however I just ordered a G-Shock DW-6900-1v.... A few months ago I started working out with a buddy I was deployed with who does fitness training/body building as a hobby. He recommended I wear a watch to time myself and time breaks between sets when doing certain workouts.

The 6900 is a classic. Though the GW-6900 has atomic sync and solar, which are nice. Never have to set it or worry about the battery.

I wasn't into any of that until I had a situation out of state that almost did me in. my blood oxygen level had dropped to mid 70's..It's supposed to be upper 90's. My over protective wife, and the reason I'm still alive, kept checking my level with the finger tip scanner. It's pretty inconvenient to carry around and check every 30 mins. I figured there had to be a watch that had it built in. A couple of years ago I couldn't find one, but earlier this year I found one that resembles the G shock. Does the O2 scan, blood pressure, and pulse. Keeps track of your sleep cycles, Deep sleep, Rem, how many times you get up to pee. It keeps track of it long term as well. A couple of weeks with the watch, but it has an app that connects to your phone that's pretty close to getting a full blown scan at the hospital.
I wear it while working out all the time. It's got settings for the different exercises your doing...it's actually pretty cool.
Plenty of other features. Let's, e know who is calling or texting, and can use it to answer the call or texts, controls the tv...you name it.

Sometimes, I'll wear the same watch for a few or several days in a row. This time it's the Sea King. Today is day #3.

PERSONAL DOX AND REVEAL OF RACER:

I'm searching Youtube this morning for solutions to un-stick a stuck watch bezel on an old dive watch I have. And by damn, who woulda thunk? I stumbled across Racer and know what he looks like if anyone else is curious. He obviously loves his watches and illustrates that love between 00:53 to 01:41 mins in this clip. Fact checking of the dox and proof of this positive ID is in his own words in the video: "why not wear two of them".

For some reason, I never envisioned Racer having a beard because his P80 builds are all clean shaven.

Yeah, that's definitely not Racer88! 🤣
C'mon dood, you've had too much beer this morning, he says it right there in the video, "why not wear two of them". What is really odd is that Racer posts a similar watch with a divers bezel one minute before I posted my link and as I was drafting the post. I think he can see folks drafting posts in this forum or there's a stranger power to explain that one.

Ha! Naaaaa... I can't see anyone drafting posts. That would be kinda creepy!

Just co-inky-dink!

I gotta say, I was only two minutes into that video and I immediately thought of you. I didn't even finish watching it yet and posted the link here. Ya'll at least need to reach out to each other and establish that online bromance. Ya'll may have electricity! Ha! :p

WARNING!
Don't try this at home.
Let a Pro tackle this complex job.

I figured I'd pull out my father's old Tree Brand knife and give the fix technique a whirl. Afteralll, I have enviable mechanical prowess and great confidence around tools, Eh?

Fuck that. I just sliced a deep gash in my thumb as the knife slipped out of the groove in the bezel. It probably needs stitches, but I'm gonna rough it for now. Any lawyers in the house? I figure I can sue this thread starter and the host of the Youtube video for negligence and emotional stress for having no warnings in this thread, or in the video. ;)

Don't use a knife! Whoops... too late! Ouch!
(The metro watch dude used a specific watch tool, not a knife.)

Hope you're OK, though!

Yea, I was being stupid. I don't think my bezel snaps off like in the video. The silly part, is it really doesn't matter to me much. Fixing the bezel is not important to me as this is a cheapo watch I wear around the shop and or for general work.

The band doesn't even match and is from an older nicer watch and a spare band I had laying around. It is now hard to find bands at brick and mortar retailers. REI used to have a nice selection, but they carry Apple bands now. Not the outdoorsy type. I like to see watches and bands in person rather than buy them online. It is hard to judge a watch online.

The amazing thing is this watch has been bullet proof in abusive environments. Takes a licking and keeps on ticking.
It's long been discontinued and I probably bought it 15-20 years ago perhaps. Perhaps longer.

But, it looks like Tractor Supply and Amazon may sell a similar, newer model now with a backpack clip, so I may look into getting one of those. The problem is this newer one doesn't have the extra loop and pin for a normal watch band.

This watch has truly been fantastic banging on cylinder heads, in tight spaces around engines while I'm working on cars. Hot environments. Road racing and hot while wearing a suit and nomex. It is definitely a beater watch to have if you are doing mechanical or fix it work around the house, or your job may be outdoors, or for running and sports. Highly recommend for that. The blue night light still works if I push the button at 2 O'clock position.

This is where the spare black band on the Dakota came from when I switched out the donor watch band for an alligator, crocodile type from the donor watch.

Rarely worn. Circa 1940s Bubbleback Rolex. Crazy the auto winder works fantastic on this watch. and keeps perfect time. after 70-80 years. I wonder if the Dakota will make it that long. It winds itself as you wear it and you can hear the gizmos and gears working to wind it if you wave your arm. Not wound right now as it sits idly in a cabinet.
