Polymer80 may survive the court battle but not their own reputation....

My thoughts in no particular order...

I would not be surprised if we find out the Bidet ATF has been digitalizing millions upon millions of 4473s in storage the past three years. Think of the juicy, searchable database that (is) would create(ing)... Don't forget the gov't has thousands of lawyers and prosecutors at its disposal to fight against such "constitutional" abuse lawsuits that might arise. And like Cunter's laptop, once the info is out there it IS out there forever.

I agree with this. BUT we are not yet near the point of confiscation as many LEOs have ZERO desire to participate in raiding gunowners (1) because they wish to uphold the Constitution and (2) because they wish to self-preservate...
Plus, there is rampant non-compliance by normal, honest citizens (such as in IL). An unjust law is not a law...

I'd be more concerned the tracing of the files used to program the printer. Patriots in other countries are arming themselves with 3D guns. This is just a random search I clipped.

If you haven't joined the Fosscad sub-reddit you should. I haven't been there in a few months but there is a lot of "experimentors" doing their thing and posting their findings.

Yup... :(

See my post about digitalizing 4473s above. That list, if it exists will creating overflowing of ponds and lakes due to "boating accidents"... :D As a student of Forensic Science, a gun serial number trace with the ATF is not an investigative tool but more a prosecutorial tool.

I will venture that many gun companies will provide the gov't with any customer info they want if subpoenaed. THAT is the slippery slope that will lead to confiscation. They will start with "Joe's Gun Shop" that bought 10k 80% kits (for example) and work their way down the list...

See my search link and check out fosscad...

I don't think anyone intends to insult but more merely debate. Then it seems like the bullies come out next and many here gang up on them. Civility will go a long way for our cause even you don't agree with everything someone says... :)
good points

Some states have demanded turn-ins or registration (of AR-15s). But compliance has been very very low. It didn't work.

I haven't caught on to even a hint of illegal activity here. There have been a few that bought their parts before their locality banned these things. Usually, previously owned stuff is grandfathered. Don't know.
Nope. And while I'm easy going on language and letting adults be adults... Any hint of illegal business... It and they will be GONE.

When things don't pan out the way their boss wanted it to, they pick up their ball and storm off. I've never been to Reddit but it seems like the IQ is a lot lower there. There would be a better chance of catching illegal activity on Reddit than here.
Definitely some shady characters over there.

I have a 3D printer and have printed some useful household items and toys for the kids. The strength and durability are not there yet for me to put my handsome mug behind a barely contained small explosion with heavy moving parts. You guys and gals go first.
I'm with ya on that.

Without a political 180 I think the days of mail order gun kits any 12 year old with a Dremel can do in under an hour may rightfully be over. These things have become a plague in schools and on the streets.
They're literally participation trophy "builds". Personally Manufactured Firearms were never an issue when it required tools and actual skill to make a firearm. Once the router AR's and Dremel Glocks hit the market it was a matter of time before they would become a public menace. At least my shop teacher when he realized that I was making Mac 10's marched me over to the band saw and made me cut them up. If these Poly80's had been available I probably would have been making them in Jr High School with nobody noticing.
Okay boomer

You're not helping, and that's bullshit. Sorry, but yeah... Absolutely and provably FALSE.

Grown-ass adults (who aren't career machinists, eh?) have trouble building working examples with UNLIMITED time.

Also bullshit. Prove it. Please show the ACTUAL data (not liberal talking points) that demonstrate PMFs, SPECIFICALLY, are proliferating as a criminal "plague." This is also absolutely false and not supported by actual data. Same goes for assault prevention weapons. You're making THEIR argument.
Yeah that guy is a douchebag I'm sorry to result to name calling but fuck that guy and his Liberal/Democrat opinion. He's basically a Communist.

It was really hard trying to argue against the stupid ban in my state just because when I was asked how long it takes I had to admit to doing it in 5 minutes and an hour for an AR. Like I said I firmly believe that if you are legal to own it you're legal to make it for your personal use. How do we protect our rights and protect our kids and prevent criminals from getting them? I've been part of the Builder Community for over 40 years starting when I was 13.
5 minutes for an AR? Nah that's a lie.

I think he said 5 minutes for a P80 and and hour for an AR.

In any case, the time it takes HIM.... or anyone else... is utterly irrelevant.

As for 5 minutes for a P80... I'd like to see that and then see it fire. I don't believe it... but it doesn't matter in the matter of Constitutionality.

In the days when the 1st Amendment was written, it would take weeks, if not months for a message to be sent across the country. Now it takes milliseconds. So what?

Oh, but the Founders of our nation could have never imagined the many different platforms Freedom of Speech could be wielded from. How a 14 year old child could possibly reach as many people as the Federal Government, or that Criminals might use those platforms to manipulate the system and do bad deeds. Shouldn't there be an age limit and possibly background checks before someone could possess a keyboard? Maybe some kind of tracking method, like serialization?

What about voice to text? That's fully automatic.

It is my opinion that if they were simply honest / transparent AND COMMUNICATIVE, this building community would be very understanding, supportive, and patient. But taking orders, collecting payment, failing to deliver, and then going radio silent for MONTHS... is not going to cultivate loyalty or future business.

I am writing this, NOT to vacuously or pointlessly criticize Polymer80... but rather in hopes that they right the course of their PR ship so that they may THRIVE in the future. I think we all want to see Polymer80 survive and then thrive. I think it's IMPORTANT to the 2nd Amendment that they continue to stay in business! But they need to do something pronto, or their potential customers will be gone after P80 survives the court battle (and I think they / we will win).

Yea, their support says they simply can't ship new frames. They'll just become another serialized manufacturer or go 0% and give the manufacturer specs via a leak....

It probably took weeks to build a complete functioning rifle as well. Maybe less if it was a no frills poor boy. Some of those Kentucky and Pennsylvania long rifles are works of art.

“the Bidan” was claiming 80% Glock clones ie P80’s, could be made ready to go in 15 minutes. Clueless is as Clueless says…

FIRST... it doesn't fucking matter how much or how little time it takes. It's factually, logically, and Constitutionally IRRELEVANT. But it's all they've got, so they keep harping on it... with a LIE, of course.

I would love to see someone do a single take video of building a P80, start to finish in 15 minutes, and then go straight to the range and perform a mag-dump with no malfunctions. LOL! It will never happen.

And that is the relevance of the whole argument. Can it be thrown together in 15 minutes? Yep! Can it function reliably? not likely.

Pretty interesting this thread was only a page or two long last I viewed it. Yet here we are 12 pages so far.

If you sit back and look at the whole picture, you start to notice things. We all know bans and restrictions aren't based on facts. It's just to keep ticking away one thing after the other. We know president are selected, not elected. So no need to talk about the potus. Have the two major two political sides we have create arguments, sides etc that divide us. Speaking of division, the puppet masters are doing an exceptional job on race dividing in the USA.

People in general have too much to lose these days. It won't stop.

My opinion is starting to change. I thought after the last election that The Sheeple were so blind that there was no hope for us. Recent events such as the standoff at the border between the Governors, and the current administration, The attitude of the people in NY who are fed up with illegals being housed in their schools, and no place for their kids to go. And the "governor" of Cali trying to confiscate the guns from people who actually registered them, and the Sherriff telling him to kick rocks, they would not enforce his decision.

It seems like people are actually starting to push back a bit. Either that or I'm just being delusionally optimistic.

We are in interesting times.
