I learned about her from the movie Airplane!An older guy who mentored me in my early "gubbament" days did an impression of Ethel singing this song. That always cracked me up. He referred to the work we did as "Show Biz". When I would bitch about the insufferable government bureaucracy he would talk me off the ledge by dramatically singing a few bars of There's No Business Like Show Business. He was a honest, ethical, smart, and dedicated public servant. A species that I think has gone extinct. Replaced by people who have it backwards. In short... Ask not what your country can do for you, but what you can do for your country.
My grandparents also loved Ethel Merman. They attended her show in Las Vegas. I had no idea who she was.
