Chrysler says to prove it needs an engine after it was towed in for being locked up.

So I wrote on this ticket that they need to take the car back where it came from or assign to someone else. I refuse to touch it.

My first question is how did this even get by the service advisor/writer!?!???!? Are they not doing any kind of walk around with or without the customer before handing this stuff off? Even if it came from a body shop, shouldn't someone have seen this before it hit your hands?! Thats crazy!

My question exactly. It was tucked all the way in the back of the property (it’s big enough that we use golf carts to get around). I guess the advisor didnt want to get up from her desk. 🤷🏻🤦

Thread has been dead. This the most interesting thing I’ve had in a little bit. 21 Charger ScatPack (392). I took these pics 5 mins ago. Car has 18k miles on it. Drag radials in the rear and on a nitrous wet kit. In for Blown head gaskets.

Well... when you push the engine that hard, shit happens, eh?

The price you pay for performance modifications.

Why would someone with a car set up for drag racing bring it in to a dealer?

Things have probably changed since I was a kid hanging out with the gear heads at Big Boy. None of those Chevy, Mopar, Ford guys would ever bring their car to a dealer to fix a blown head gasket.

True. I'd have it back at the speed shop for some more mods "while they're at it" with the head gasket! :devilish:

When my 2004 STI spun a rod bearing due to a broken oil pick-up tube, I had a choice to get a new factory short-block at the dealer... OR take it to a speed shop and BUILD an engine. I chose the latter... at about double the cost. 🤠 It was an awesome car. Most all-around-fun car I've ever driven. Not just owned... driven, and I've driven some super-exotics.

I dunno. I do know that with the Chargers, TRX and Challenger you can wholeheartedly race your car at the track, blow it up, and bring it in for warranty engine replacement/repairs. STELLANTIS says that since they advertise their cars on TV to the public driving them on racetracks, and beating on them, they will honor the warranty when the owners do the same thing. I didn’t say anything to the advisor about the car being on nitrous which would void the warranty because doing the head gaskets under warranty is time I can get paid guaranteed. Voiding his warranty with those notes, means I’m hoping he has the money to pay for it out of pocket. If he doesn’t, I lose the entire repair all together. I’d rather get warranty pay than no pay.

Yet they made me pay for a second EGR cooler that failed 1month after the 1 year parts warranty expired. The repair part was exactly the same as the recalled part. They never revised it or fixed the issue with it.

I tried to buy the part outright and do it myself but it is impossible to obtain because every one of them is allocated to service departments.

I fixed it the Bongo Lewi way and traded it in on a new truck. Chevy this time.

So I guess this can go in the work thread since it is a business for me. Yesterday I had to go behind the levee by the bank of of the Mississippi River for a recovery. Guy was back there checking on his property, and somehow managed a mechanical failure of his 4wd system. Tried his best to force his way out, and 2 other trucks tried unsuccessfully to get him out. I got the call. Was an easy recovery for me.

Simple 2:1 pull using a snatchblock back to my own front bumper. Anchored the jeep to the ground using scotchblocks I built myself. Pics were when I was getting set up. He was tightening a loose connection on his battery.

Man, that looks fun. ;)

On another note, and I know it is very early, how are the higher HP Hurricane V6's doing? Any signs of issues?

Thermostat recalls, engineers screwed up in the sense that they say it takes 8 qts of oil. If you put 8qts, the truck goes into a limp mode saying oil pressure to high, so we are only putting 7qts in them, radiators are splitting at seams…. That’s the most common stuff we see so far. T-stat is attached to the back of water pump in a VERY BAD spot. Warranty time to replace it under recall is 3hrs.

So last Saturday I recovered that GMC Sierra from the hole he dug himself into, then Sunday, I drove 3 hrs to recover a F250 Diesel that was framed out after 2 trucks were damaged in failed attempts and 4 tow truck companies said they wouldn’t even try to recover it…these pictures were taken before I really got the Jeep dirty, and it took 5.5hrs to get it done, but it got done with no damage to any vehicles and nobody getting hurt. I did however pop my 20k pound MBS winch line (new winch line will be delivered Monday). What made it difficult was the tires weren’t even touching ground. It was sitting on the frame with both axle chunks literally in the mud. The ground was REALLY soft and very loose.
